Liberty Bridge lane restrictions continue this week in Pittsburgh

September 11, 2018

Lane restrictions on the Liberty Bridge will occur through Friday, Sept. 14 weather permitting.

Single-lane restrictions will occur in both directions of the Liberty Bridge each day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as crews finish cleaning and punchlist items. Lane closures will not occur simultaneously in each direction.

Use caution when traveling in the area and allow extra time. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

The $80.08 million Liberty Bridge Rehabilitation Project includes deck replacement and ramp reconstruction, structural steel repairs, painting of the entire structure, concrete repairs, signage improvements and installation of a new alternating overhead lane control system. The Joseph B. Fay Company is the prime contractor.

To help keep motorists informed as work progresses, PennDOT has created an email distribution list for Liberty Bridge traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to stcowan@pa.gov. Write “Subscribe – Liberty Bridge” in the subject line.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting http://www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 860 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
