South Side Market House lists activities for the month of Jan.

South Side Healthy Active Living Senior Center on 12th Street is planning a number of activities during January.
The center is partnering with Virtual Senior Academy to provide more extensive programming in an online format. The programming can be accessed from a personal computer at home and/or at the center at the designated times with assistance from the staff. The next two Thursdays in January will feature a Yoga Class from 11-11:30 a.m. The class will be held in the side room on the large TV and will be facilitated by one of the staff.
In addition, there will be a program from the Pittsburgh Glass Center, “Creating a Glass Pendant Demo,” on Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., through the Virtual Senior Academy.
Arts and Crafts projects are planned for Wednesdays including: January 10, Coffee Cozy, $5 fee; January 17, Open Studio with fees depending on supplies used; January 24, Beaded Snowflakes, $3 fee; and, January 30, Winter Wonderland Scenes, $5 fee.
Cornhole has begun at the center and there will be a practice on Tuesday, Jan. 9 and a competition on January 23.
Other events and outings include:
A trip to Walmart on Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Lunch at Chili’s on Friday, Jan. 12 from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and on Wednesday Jan. 17, they will be going to Brighton Hotdog Shoppe for Lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The center’s Birthday Party is on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd from 11a.m.-1p.m.
Artwork submissions are being collected for the Artful Aging Exhibit until Thursday, Jan. 11. The opening reception for the exhibit will be January 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beechview Healthy Active Living Senior Center. Submit artwork for a chance to win a scholarship at the Center for the Arts.
Seniors are welcome to come and join in any day for activities, company and a hot meal.
