Zone 3 community crime alerts for July 24-30

The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: July 24-30.
Duquesne Heights (1911) – NTR (nothing to report).
Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)
Burglary – 200 blk. LaBelle St. – between 7/24/17 at 7 PM and 7/25/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported someone broke into his detached garage and stole coins from his vehicle. Amount of loss is $13.
Burglary – 100 blk. Wyoming St. – between 10 AM and 3:30 PM on 7/25/17 – Victim reported he returned to his home and found his door open and the TV had been stolen. The TV is an Emerson LCD 39" TV. Amount of loss is $500.
Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Maple Ter. – 7/29/17 at 11:50 PM – Victim was visiting family and came out and discovered multiple items were missing. The items are a pink book bag, clothing for kids, black book bag, wedding planner, 2017 IPad, and tan purse. Amount of loss is $900.
Burglary – 500 blk. Griffin St. – between 7/13/17 at noon and 7/22/17 at 7 PM – Property owner reported damage to his front door because it would not open. He observed water around a toilet and piping loose indicating someone tried to steal it.
Theft – 700 Southern Ave. – between 7/26/17 at 7 PM and 7/27/17 at 5:15 – Victim reported her small electric fireplace from her porch had been stolen. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft – 300 blk. Kramer Way – between 7/27/17 at 9 PM and 7/28/17 at 7 PM – Victim reported a known person took her Apple MacBook Pro. Amount of loss is $1,300.
South Shore (1921)
Robbery – 100 blk. E. Carson St. – 7/26/17 at 2:30 PM – Victim reported he arranged to meet with a known person to sell him 5 Amazon streaming stick/fire sticks for $360. The suspect stated he was keeping the fire sticks and pulled what appeared to be a firearm from his back pocket without paying.
Theft – 500 blk. W. Station Sq. Dr. – Victim reported his black/gray REI Novarra pack had been stolen along with a tool kit, tire pump, & spare bike tire. Amount of loss is $80.
Bon Air (1806) – NTR
South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)
Burglary – 2300 blk. Eccles St. – between 7/21/17 at 4 PM and 7/25/17 at 5:17 PM – A relative was checking on the residence when he noticed the home was ransacked. Officers responded and observed a window broken to gain access to the home. The homeowner was contacted and will report anything found to be missing.
Burglary – 100 blk. Pius St. – between 8 AM and 3:30 PM on 7/28/17 – Victims reported someone forced entry into their home. The victims will contact police if any items are discovered missing.
South Side Flats (1609 & 1702)
Theft from vehicle – S. 18th St. & Wrights Way – 7/23/17 at 2 AM – Victim reported his brother saw a short Hispanic male with a white tee shirt inside his brother's vehicle. His brother told the suspect to drop the belongings he had but the suspect took off. Later, the victim realized his backpack with the contents inside were gone. The contents were HP laptop, student paperwork, medication, briefcase, Surface Pro laptop with cords, Apple cable, and Apple headphones. Amount of loss is over $1,070.
Stolen vehicle – 1900 blk. E. Carson St. – between 7/26/17 at 8:20 PM and 7/27/17 at 2:15 AM – Victim reported his silver 2008 Ford Focus was stolen. The vehicle was found by Pittsburgh police officers with several parking tickets on the windshield near the location where the victim claimed it was stolen.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. S. 17th St. – between 7/27/17 at 6 PM and 7/28/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported coins stolen from his vehicle and items in disarray. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft or property lost or mislaid – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 7/30/17 at 1:35 AM – Victim reported her iPhone 7 plus with black case was lost/missing somewhere by S. 13th and Muriel Street. Amount of loss is $500.
Aggravated assault – 100 blk. S. 7th St. – 7/29/17 at 7:30 AM – Victim reported he was assaulted overnight and has a fractured jaw. The victim was assaulted by 3 known males he resides with in a homeless camp.
Theft – 400 blk. E. Carson St. – 7/23/17 at 12:10 AM – Victim reported a known person took his rent money. The amount of loss is $720.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)
Theft from vehicle – 1900 blk. Westmont Ave. – between 12:30 AM and 12:30 PM on 7/24/17 – Victim reported someone stole the battery from his vehicle.
Theft from vehicle – 2100 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 7/28/17 at 3:30 PM – Victim reported while at a local business someone stole his tax return and account information out of his vehicle. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft – 200 blk. Parkfield St. – between 1:30 AM and 7/28/17 at 10:07 AM – Victim reported they had people over to "hang-out". They fell asleep and woke up to find there Insignia 36" TV and rent money were gone. The amount of loss is $700.
Stolen vehicle – 100 blk. Scout Ave. – between 7/23/17 at 8:30 PM and 7/24/17 at 10:26 AM – Victim reported his dark/light blue 1992 Buick Century with PA plate KKZ 9009 had been stolen.
Burglary – 1000 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 7/25/17 at 2 AM – Owner of a business reported his window was broken out by a male wearing a hoodie, baseball cap, & jeans. The suspect then entered the business and stole his 42" Sony flat screen TV. Amount of loss is over $300.
Theft from vehicle – 1200 blk. Transverse Ave. – between 8 AM and Noon on 7/25/17 – Victim reported $1,200 was stolen out of his glove box while at a contract site.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Poplargrove St. – between midnight and 6:45 AM on 7/3/17 – Victim reported her work belt, flashlight, Leatherman tool, glove pouch, & set of keys were stolen from her vehicle. Amount of loss is $254.85.
Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Sprucewood St. – between 7/29/17 at 8 PM and 7/30/17 at 12:34 AM – Victim had baseball cards in a black case & cash stolen from her vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry.
Theft – 100 blk. Merritt Ave. – between 7/4/17 at 4 PM and 7/5/17 at 1:30 AM – Victim stated his daughters had a party and afterwards he noticed his Remington 12-gauge shotgun, 20-gauge "crack barrel" shotgun, Savage 7mm rifle, & barrel to an air rifle (pellet) were stolen. Amount of loss is $650.
Theft by deception – 400 blk. Olivet Ave. – between 7/20/17 at 8 PM and 7/22/17 at 8 PM – Victim reported she tried to get an online loan. She applied online and received a call the next day. The victim was told she was pre-approved for $8,000 even though she only needed $5,000. The suspect then told her based on her credit she needed to purchase loan insurance. The suspect then told her she needed to wire funds to 2 separate "agents" in order to pay for the loan insurance. The victim was then wired money into her bank account. The victim then wired the money to the 2 "agents". The victim was then wired money into her account from the suspect. After about 5 days, the wired money began to be reversed causing her account to be overdrawn.
Burglary – 100 blk. Kirk Ave. – between 9 AM and 5:30 PM on 7/26/17 – Victims arrived home and discovered the door was open. They also noticed the door had damage to it indicating forced entry. Officers checked the home for intruders with negative results. Nothing appears to have been taken at this time.
Robbery/Aggravated assault – Spokane Ave. & Sinton Ave. – 7/28/17 at 5 PM – Victim reported 2 known persons robbed him. He stated the one snuck up behind him and choke him until he began to lose consciousness and then the other one pulled a black handgun and held it to his head. The victim's pockets were searched. His wallet, bus pass, and cash were stolen. Amount of loss is $140. A juvenile (17 YOA) was arrested for this crime and taken to Shuman Center.
Overbrook (3204, 3207)
Theft from vehicle – 2300 blk. Walton Ave. between 7/23/17 at 9 PM and 7/24/17 at 11:15 AM – Victim had her medication, cash, & coins stolen from her vehicle. Amount of loss is over $20.
St. Clair (1606) – NTR
Burglary – 300 blk. Arabella St. – between Noon and 8 PM on 7/24/17 – Victim reported while in the process of moving someone had "kicked-in" her basement door and stole a PlayStation 3 gaming console. Amount of loss is $200.
