The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: June 12-18.
Duquesne Heights (1911)
Burglary – 200 blk. Edith St. – between 9/1/16 at noon and 6/10/17 at noon – Victim reported after recovering from an injury he was able to ascertain firearms and a 2500 psi pressure washer (red) were taken from his home. Amount of loss is over $1,150. The firearms were a Marlin .22 rifle, Remington 30-06 rifle, and a Ruger SR40.
Burglary – 200 blk. Shaler St. – between 7:15 AM and 11:16 AM – Victim reported finding her door kicked in and items stolen from inside the home. Items stolen were a brown Louis Vuitton purse, RCA 42" flat screen TV, Hewlett Packard laptop, black Taurus .38 semi-auto, & Beats headphones. Amount of loss is $2,920.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Trimont Ln – between 6/12/17 at 10 PM and 6/15/17 at 6:30 PM – Victim reported $2 in coins were taken from his vehicle. The victim noticed a plastic smear along the passenger side window.
Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)
Aggravated assault/Robbery – 100 blk. Kenova St. – 6/13/17 at 11:55 PM – Victim had picked up a male to buy marijuana. He was driving the suspect around the block. The victim was asked to show the money (money was displayed) and then to stop to the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, the suspect exited the vehicle and then pulled an object from his waistband. The victim realized he was going to be robbed and tried to drive away. The suspect then fired several shots at the vehicle. The passenger was struck by one of the shots fired. The suspect is a black male, 20-30 years old, 6'2", 180 pounds, thin build, and black hair with medium length dreadlocks. The suspect was wearing a black baseball cap, black hoodie, and black sweatpants.
Theft – 100 blk. Beltzhoover Ave. – between 6/14/17 at 3 PM and 6/15/17 at 11:15 AM – Victim reported he was working on his car and left his keys out along with his cell phone. The victim went inside and when he came back out his black 1999 Honda Passport SUV with PA plate JPT3373 had been taken with his keys and cell phone. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft from vehicle – 800 blk. Grandview Ave. – between 6/12/17 at 5 PM and 6/13/17 at 8:20 AM – Victim reported items were taken out of his vehicle. The items were Louis Vuitton business portfolio/briefcase, checkbook, credit cards, cash, Bosch laser measuring device, & Ray Ban sunglasses. Amount of loss is over $850. There was no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.
Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Grandview Ave. – between midnight and 11:45 PM on 6/13/17 – Victims reported both of their purses were stolen from the vehicle. The amount of loss is unknown. The purses were a white and tan Michael Kors purse with cash and debit card. The other purse was a black Louis Vuitton purse with cash and ice cream card in it. Entry may have been made through a window left slightly open.
Theft – 100 blk. Bigham St – 6/8/17 at 5 PM – A company worker realized his co-worker who was supposed to be loading tools in his pickup truck did not place them in his truck. The items taken were Milwaukee impact driver, Milwaukee cordless drills, Milwaukee chargers, 18V Milwaukee batteries, DeWalt grinder, DeWalt 20V drill, DeWalt Multitool 20 V, DeWalt impact driver, DeWalt batteries, DeWalt chargers, Paslode framing nailer, Bostitch roofing nailer, and Hitachi roof nailer. The amount of loss is unknown at this time.
Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Shiloh St. – between 6/12/17 at 10:30 PM and 6/13/17 at 6:42 AM – Victim reported her passenger side window was shattered and a tote bag filled with miscellaneous clothing was stolen. Amount of loss is over $5.
Theft – 100 blk. Boggs Ave. – between 6/9/17 at 9 AM and 6/14/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported a home healthcare worker stole a blank check and cashed it forging her name. The amount of loss is $4,750.
Theft – 400 blk. Natchez St. – between 9:30 AM and 11:30 PM on 6/16/17 – Victim reported someone stole prescription medication, cash, lock box, and wedding rings from his home. Victim explained multiple people have access to his home. Amount of loss is over $2,600.
Theft – 300 blk. Eutaw St. – between 6/15/17 at 10 PM and 6/16/17 at 8 AM – Victim reported her blue Adirondack bench chair stolen off of her porch. Amount of loss is $200.
South Shore (1921)
Theft of property lost or mislaid – 100 blk. E. Carson St. – Victim called to report he lost his wallet around this location while biking. The wallet had debit card, bank card, state ID, Kennywood pass, & Pittsburgh Zoo pass. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft of property lost or mislaid – Smithfield St. Brg & E. Carson St. – Victim reported he dropped his wallet but located it later at his job's security desk. However, his social security information and bus pass were stolen. Amount of loss is unknown.
Bon Air (1806)
South Side Slopes (1706 & 1608)
Theft from vehicle – 2600 blk. Patterson St. – between 6/11/17 at 8:50 PM and 6/12/17 at 8:15 AM – Victim reported someone stole items from his vehicle. The items were Tommy Hilfiger wallet, state ID, AAA card, cash, debit card, credit card, Visa gift card, & a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses. The amount of loss is unknown.
Stolen/Recovered vehicle – 2700 blk. Shelly St. – between 6/12/17 at 8:30 PM and 6/13/17 at 4 AM – Victim reported her vehicle had been stolen overnight. The vehicle a gray 2005 Ford Escape SUV had been recovered earlier that morning by a local police department. The vehicle was involved in a crash.
Burglary – 2800 blk. Patterson St. – between 6/13/17 at 8 PM and 6/14/17 at 2:30 PM – Reporting person saw a window open and made contact with the owner of the home. Someone had entered the home and stole items from inside. The victims will provide a detailed list of the items stolen at a later time.
Theft from vehicle – Shelly St. & Oakley Way. – between 6/13/17 at noon and 6/15/17 at 9:30 AM – An employee reported her work vehicle had coins stolen from it. The loss is $10.
Criminal trespass – 2400 blk. S. 18th – 6/13/17 at 12:50 AM – Victim heard the door open and thought it was their son. However, 2 black males had activated the light on their cell phone and appeared to have entered the home. The males stated they were looking for her son who had stolen from one of them. Officers were able to locate the group of males who stated they were at the home and trying to recover their stolen property. The victim did not wish to prosecute the suspects unless they returned to their home.
Theft – 2000 blk. Gregory St. – between 10 AM and 8 PM on 5/27/17 – Victim realized after unpacking from a move that someone had stolen his firearm (Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm) while he was moving items in and out of his home. Amount of loss is $441.55.
Theft from vehicle – 1800 blk. St. Patrick St. – between 12:45 AM and 7:15 AM on 6/12/17 – Victim discovered his driver's side door was slightly ajar and the contents inside of his vehicle had been moved. No signs of forced entry.
South Side Flats (1609 & 1702)
Theft – 2300 blk. Sarah St. – between 6/13/17 at 9 PM and 6/14/17 3 PM – Victim reported a Jamis girls beach cruiser bike was stolen from in front of the home. Amount of loss is $50.
Theft – 2300 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/16/17 at 4:10 PM – Victim reported charging her phone (Samsung S7) at a local business. Surveillance video showed a white male (25-35 years old, red hair, and wearing long sleeve light blue shirt with white pants) take the phone. Amount of loss is $700.
Theft of property lost/mislaid – 6/11/17 at 1 AM – Victim reported his phone was stolen. The phone is an iPhone 7 (black). Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/10/17 at 8:30 AM – Victim reported a known actor used his debit card to make an unauthorized transaction. The amount of loss is $500.
Theft of property delivered – 100 blk. S. 17th St. – between 3:06 PM and 7 PM on 6/1/17 – Victim reported a delivery company left a package at her home and it had been stolen. Loss is $20.
Theft from vehicle – 2000 blk. Jane St. – between 6/12/17 at 11 PM and 6/13/17 at 10 AM – Victim reported someone had stolen items from his vehicle and tried gaining entry into his truck and damaged the lock. The items stolen were a black wallet, Wise Eye hammock, Leatherman with holder, debit card, & state ID. Amount of loss is $225.
Aggravated assault – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/17/17 at 1:44 AM – Officers were working Southside saturation were alerted to a physical altercation with a patron and employees at a local bar. Employees asked a patron to leave because he was displaying abnormal behavior. The patron refused to leave and punched an employee. When other employees tried to restrain the patron, the patron bit an employee. The officer is applying for a warrant for the patron.
Robbery – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/17/17 at 12:30 AM – Victim stated a day earlier she was surrounded by 2 unknown black woman for no reason. She stated the women punched her in the face multiple times. The victim left the bar and realized she did not have her purse. The victim went back to the bar and located the purse but her wallet had been stolen. The Michael Kors wallet contained a debit card, credit card, cash, & state ID. Amount of loss is unknown. The first black female's description: 20-25 years old, 5'7", athletic build, long wavy black hair, wearing black tee shirt, light colored skinny jeans with cat eye framed glasses, and dark complexion. The second black female's description: 20-25 years old, 5'4", thin build, light complexion, shoulder length caramel colored hair, and wearing a white spaghetti strap shirt.
Aggravated assault – 100 blk. S. 12th St. – 6/12/17 at 12:21 AM – An officer was stopped and advised someone was being assaulted inside of a local bar. Upon arrival, the officer observed the victim was unconscious with patrons already administering aid. Medics responded to the scene. The officer checked the area for the 3 suspects who fled the scene prior. The suspects are 3 white males all 20-25 years old. Suspect #1- 6'3", large build, 200 pounds, and black tee shirt. Suspect #2 – 6'2", 200 pounds, & large build. Suspect #3- 5'10" & 180 pounds. Victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was conscious leaving the scene.
Aggravated assault – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/18/17 at 1:40 AM – Officers observed a white male pushing a black male near a local bar. The white male (Christian Bryan) had a laceration above his left eye. As officers approached the black male appeared to be trying to get Bryan away from the bar. Officers kept telling Bryan to calm down but he continued to ignore them. Officers ordered Bryan to leave, but he continued towards the black male. One officer placed himself between the black male and Bryan to stop the behavior of Bryan. Bryan reacted by delivering a shove to the officer's chest. Bryan continued to struggle when officers tried to effect his arrest. Bryan had to be taken to the ground where he continued to resist arrest. Officers were finally able to place handcuffs on Bryan. Bryan was taken to a local hospital for treatment before taken to the county jail.
Theft – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 6/18/17 at 1:05 AM - Victim reported someone stole her phone while at a local bar. The phone is a pink iPhone 5s. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft of property lost or mislaid – 100 blk. S. 27th St. – 6/17/17 at 12:20 AM – Victim reported leaving her purse on the table of a diner when she went to use the bathroom. When she returned the purse was gone. The black leather purse contained a Kate Spade wallet, keys to car & residence, bank cards, health care card, & cash. Amount of loss is over $230.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Renwick St. – between 6/12/17 at 5:30 PM and 6/13/17 at 6:30 AM – Victim reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole cash and 20 audio CDs. Amount of loss is over $50.
Robbery – 600 blk. Eureka St. – 6/16/17 at noon. – Victim (juvenile) reported he got out of school early and was approached by a black male (25-30 years old, 5'11", 190 pounds, medium build, dark hair, short afro, clean shaven, dark complexion, and wearing light blue jeans & white tee shirt with blue decals) who was talking to him at this bus stop. The black male then asked for the juvenile to sit in the back of the bus with him. The victim decline. When the victim got to his stop he exited the bus and was walking home only to realize the black male was following him. The black male asked to use his phone which he allowed him to make a phone call. The black male then threatened the juvenile and took his Star Wars rebel wallet, bus pass, cash, Gamestop gift card, & Samsung Galaxy phone. Loss is over $272.
Robbery – 800 blk. Freeland St. – 6/15/17 at 2 PM – Victim was looking for her son who is an addict. She saw his drug dealer who came up to her truck and asked her for money. When she refused he took her purse from her lap. The victim exited her truck only to have the drug dealer strike her in the face. The purse was black with keys, driver's license, insurance card, access card, & bus pass inside. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft – 800 blk. E. Warrington Ave. – 6/18/17 at 5:52 PM – Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress. While responding, officers were informed the owner was in the hospital and there was a firearm in the home. Upon arrival, officers encountered a white male coming around the corner where the stairs are located. The white male had a firearm concealed on his person. The male stated he was house sitting for the owner. Officers contacted the owner who confirmed the man was permitted in the home but did not have permission to have the firearm. The man was taken to the county jail.
Mount Oliver (1607)
Theft from vehicle – 2400 blk. Charcot St. – between 6/11/17 at 11 PM and 6/12/17 at 8:30 AM – Victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. Items were cigarettes, hair brush, cash, wallet, state ID, debit card, & a check. Amount of loss is over $20.
Theft from vehicle – 2400 blk. Carcot St. – between 6/11/17 at 9 PM and 6/12/17 at 8:30 AM – Victim reported cash stolen from her vehicle. Loss is $200.
Theft – 100 blk. Cologne St. – between 6/7/17 at 9:30 AM and 6/14/17 at 9:15 AM – Victim reported someone stole $8,300 from her residence. There was no signs of forced entry.
Arlington Heights (1604)
Burglary – 3100 blk. Cordell Pl. – between 6/9/17 at 7:15 PM and 6/12/17 at 8:16 AM – Site manager for the property reported upon entering she noticed a door ajar and discovered the 32" TCL flat screen TV, Ninetendo Wii gaming system, & 4 Wii controllers had been stolen. There was no sign of forced entry. Amount of loss is $338.
Aggravated assault – 3000 blk. Arlington Ave. – 6/18/17 at 11:42 AM – Victim stated he was outside and heard shots behind him. Victim was shot in the upper left leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Theft – 300 blk. Chalfont St. – between 6/10/17 at 2 PM and 6/14/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported items were taken from her property. The items were a red gasoline can, Ryobi 16" chainsaw, & a Homelite 17" yard trimmer. Amount of loss is $253.
Theft from vehicle – 800 blk. Gearing Ave. – between 6/17/17 at 6:15 PM and 6/18/17 at 7:50 PM – Vicitm reported his wallet was stolen. Inside the wallet were the following: bank cards, credit cards, cash, driver's license, & work ID. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft from vehicle – 900 blk. Grandview Ave. – 6/13/17 at 3 AM – Victim reported they discovered a male stealing coins from her vehicle. The amount of loss is $5.
Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)
Theft – 1900 blk. Fairland St. – 5/19/17 at 6 PM – Victim let a known person enter her home to use the bathroom only to find later several items were stolen from the home. The items were jewelry, dark blue sapphire butterfly silver chain, 28-30" gold 18 karat necklace heart etched on top (locket type), Amethyst ring, & Harley Davidson ring (gold). Amount of loss is over $850.
Robbery – 2100 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 6/15/17 at 3 AM – Victim stated he was walking down the middle of the street when an unknown vehicle drove up on him and 5 black males (16-20 years old) with one having corn rows began kicking him and punching him as they circle around him. The victim stated he went unconscious and his black leather wallet containing cash, social security information, ID, & debit card was stolen. The victim was bleeding from the nose and had rib pain. The victim would not give a better description of the car or suspects to the officers on scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics to be treated.
Burglary – 300 Copperfield Ave. – between 10 AM and 6:30 PM on 6/15/17 – Victim reported a home burglary. Victim explained he arrived home and found his door forced open. The victim also observed his Fossil wristwatch and a Kenneth Cole wristwatch were stolen from the home. Amount of loss is $400.
Burglary – 100 blk. Newett St. – between 6/17/17 at 10 AM and 6/17/17 at 8:50 PM – Victims arrived home and found their window smashed and entry was made. A 20 gauge Savage shotgun and $20 in coins were taken in the burglary. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft – 1400 blk. Amanda St. – between 6/14/17 at 10 PM and 6/15/17 at 1 PM – Victim reported a lawn goose ornament with a yellow beak and dressed in a graduation outfit was stolen from her lawn. Amount of loss is $50.
Theft – 1700 blk. Amanda St. – between 6/11/17 at 5 PM and 6/12/17 at 2:29 AM – Victim reported cash was taken from his home by a known person. Amount of loss is $360.
Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Overbrook Blvd. – between 6/17/17 at 10 PM and 6/18/17 at 9:59 AM – Victim reported a known suspect scratched his vehicle, took both mirrors off, and stole his windshield wipers. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft of property of lost or mislaid – 800 blk. Stewart Ave. – 6/12/17 at noon – Victim reported losing his wallet in a cemetery. Victim noticed other people in the cemetery at the time he lost his wallet. The black tri-fold wallet contained a netro card, cash, state ID, and AAA card. Amount of loss is over $200,
Overbrook (3204, 3207)
Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Midwood Ave. – between 6/15/17 at 6 PM and 6/16/17 at 10:20 AM – Victim reported $5 in coins stolen from the vehicle. No signs of forced entry.
St. Clair (1606)
Arson – 100 blk. Knox Ave. – 6/12/17 at 3:15 AM – A fire was started on top of a dumpster and burned thru it. The amount of loss is estimated at $500.
Robbery – 200 blk. Mathews Ave. – 6/14/17 at 4:51 AM – Officers responded to a home invasion with a gun involved. Upon arrival, the suspect had been detained by the resident. The resident/victim explained he heard a knock on his door. When he asked who it was he was told by the suspect that he owed him $10. The victim opened the door to speak to the suspect. The suspect reaction was to demand the $10. The suspect then pulled up his shirt and began to pull a handgun from a holster. The victim was able to subdue the suspect preventing him from pulling the gun. The victims did not know the suspect (later identified as Shaun Smith) nor did they owe him money. Smith was taken to the county jail.
Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Alice St. – between 6/15/17 at 5:30 PM and 6/16/17 at 9 AM – Victim reported her black woven wristlet was stolen from her vehicle. The wristlet contained social security information, debit card, access card, insurance cards, & state ID. Amount of loss is unknown.
Burglary – 200 blk. Jucunda St. – between 6/16/17 at 11:30 PM and 6/17/17 at 8:30 AM – Victims reported they arrived home and found the front door open. The victims observed their medication, Dell laptop computer, & cash were taken. Amount of loss is over $580. There was no signs of forced entry.
Burglary – 100 blk. Grape St. – 6/17/17 at 4:15 AM – Officers responded to a burglary in progress call. Upon arrival, the victim explained she was awakened by a light and saw a known actor (Brandon Conrad) walk into her backyard and fall down appearing to be intoxicated. Conrad then tried to make entry thru the rear door but could not gain access. Conrad then grabbed a patio chair and used it to break a window. The victim then fended off Conrad making a complete entry into the home. Conrad was taken to the county jail after being cleared at Mercy Hospital from an injury which occurred trying to gain full entry into the home.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Romeyn St. – between 2 AM and 10:30 AM on 6/18/17 – Victim reported finding her passenger side front door ajar. The victim observed her Ruger .380 (hammerless) was stolen from her glove box and items were scattered inside the vehicle. Amount of loss is $250.
Stolen vehicle – 200 blk. Marland St. – between 6/11/17 at 10:30 PM and 6/12/17 at 12:55 AM – Victim reported her white 2007 Chevrolet Impala 4-door with PA plate KDE4321 was stolen. The victim explained her home was recently burglarized and her spare key to the vehicle were stolen in connection with the crime.
