Market House activities continue through April


Activities continue through April at the South Side Market House Healthy Active Living Center.

Those interested in learning how to knit or just want some company while they work on a project are welcome to join in every Monday from 12:30 – 2 p.m.

The center has a new Intro to Reiki Class every Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. Try this Eastern Practice of aligning energies to reduce stress and much more.

The CCAC classes are in their second month and everyone 60 and over are able to join for free. Classes include Chair Exercise Class and Conquer Your Cluster Class. Check the calendar for more details.

They are trying a Dance Class on Wednesday April 19 from 10:30-11:15 a.m. for $2. This class will cover dance from jazz to contemporary. If there is a good response, they will make this a regular class.

The center will hold its Generations Unite Program on Thursdays, April 20 and April 27 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. This is a really fun evening where we they hold an activity and eat dinner with some of the local kids that attend the Ormsby Recreation Center. They will be make Spring Chicken Shelf Sitters made with clay and beads.

The second Senior Chat afternoon is on Monday April 24 at 12:30 p.m. Bonnie will be reminiscing about Teenage Years with the group.

An Oldies Dance is on Tuesday, April 25 from 5-8 p.m. Join in for dancing to vinyl records from the 50s, 60s, and 70s throughout the evening led by a dance instructor. Admission is $5 and this includes a hot dog and drink.

For those who are still hungry there will be additional food and drinks for sale at the Concession Stand throughout the night. The flyer says RSVP by April 12 but the deadline to RSVP has been extended to April 20.

The center will hold a Watercolor Painting Class on Wednesday, April 26 from 12:30 - 2 p.m.

Also the last week of April is National Volunteer Week. The center has so many volunteers that help all of this happen every month and they would like to thank them for all they do.

This year’s CitiParks Healthy Active Living Center Volunteer Gala will be held on Wednesday, May 3 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in Station Square.
