Zone 3 community crime alerts for March 20 to April 2


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: March 20 to April 2:

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Aggravated assault – Craighead St. & Edgemont St. - 3/25/17 at 4:05 PM – Officers responded to a call for a man shot. Upon arrival, officers found two males shot. The victims stated a blue car pulled up and a black male shot at them. The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Theft from person – 300 blk. Kathleen St. - between 3/29/17 at 11 AM and 3/29/17 at 5:30 PM – victim reported his White Cruiser bike with a gas motor and "Yeungling" written on the frame was stolen. Loss is $250.

Theft from vehicle & Access device fraud – 100 blk. Cushman St. - between 3/29/17 at 10 AM and 3/29/17 at 4 PM – victim reported items stolen from his vehicle. Items were cash, debit cards, credit cards, and gift card. Victim noticed a 5 dollar charge which was not authorized on one of his debit cards. Amount of loss is over $6.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Hallock St. - between 3/19/17 at 7 PM and 3/21/17 at 9:15 AM – victim reported his vehicle was ransacked and items were taken. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle. Items taken were a beige messenger bag, Dell laptop, checkbook, allergy medication, and business cards. Loss is over $520.

Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Bigham St. - 3/24/17 at 3:15 PM – victim stated he parked his vehicle because he was working in the area. When he returned to it an hour later he saw his door was open. The victim observed his firearm and holster were stolen from the vehicle. The firearm is a Smith & Wesson model 3913 (stainless steel). Amount of loss is $730.

Theft from vehicle – Sandwich St. & Spahrgrove St. - between 3/24/17 at 10:30 AM and 3/25/17 at 8:30 AM – victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle. Items taken were Big brother & Big sister tee shirts and a gray Dell laptop. Loss is $1,025.

Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Boggs Ave. - between 3/24/17 at 7 PM and 3/25/17 at 10 AM – victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. Items taken were a HP laptop, Ipad Air, & black keyboard case. Loss was $800. Later, the victim along with another person went to a neighbor's home and asked the property to be returned. The white male (27 to 29 years old, 5'10", thin build, bald or shaved head) wearing a black hoodie and a punisher symbol on it gave the items back. The victim does not want to pursue charges.

Aggravated assault – E. Warrington Ave & South Busway. - 3/24/17 at 4:30 PM – Officers were conducting a traffic stop when they saw the occupants dipping their shoulders down appearing trying to hide an object. When an officer discovered drugs one actor kicked the officer's left knee and started kicking other officers on scene. Both occupants were arrested. Andreus Schultz was arrested for aggravated assault on the officers and drug charges. The other male (Joseph Gallagher) was arrested for just the drug charges.

Aggravated assault – Boggs Ave. & Paul St. - 3/25/17 at 9:30 PM – victim reported he was rear ended. He went to exchange information the other driver (black male, thin face, & goatee) in a black sedan but the other driver refused to exchange information. The victim tried to get the other driver to give him his information but the black male driver fled the scene running over the victim's feet and leg.

South Shore (1921)

Robbery – 200 blk. Arlington Ave. - 3/29/17 at 7:08 PM – Officers responded to a gun threat. As officers were pulling up, the victim pointed out the suspects stating they have a gun. Officers were able to apprehend the suspects after an investigation. The victims knew the suspects. They told the victim they needed a ride. When they went to the victim's house the suspects produced a firearm demanding their money and phones. Cecil Flourney was arrested for the robbery and for outstanding warrants as well. Officers recovered a black Smith & Wesson m&p 9 Shield firearm. The cell phones were also recovered.

Bon Air (1806)

Burglary – 100 blk. Camfield St. - between 3/23/17 at 11 AM and 3/24/17 at 1:45 PM – victim reported he returned home to find a back window shattered. The victim observed 2 items were stolen from the burglary. A vox amplificador and a Led Zeppelin box set. Loss is $1,275.

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Theft from vehicle – Pius St & Brosville St. - between 3/20/17 at 6 PM and 3/21/17 at 7:50 AM – victim reported items stolen out of his locked vehicle. Items were health insurance card, coins, debit card, and checking account card. Amount of loss is unknown.

Burglary & Robbery – 2000 blk. Gregory St. - 3/21/17 at 9:30 PM – victim answered the door for a known person. Moments later, 2 black males entered the open door with handguns. The victim was hit on the back of the head with the gun as the actor was yelling "Where's my money". The suspects went thru the home ransacking the residence. The suspects located cash and left the home. The victim was able to locate his firearm and discharged his firearm towards the suspects. Amount of loss is $500.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Pius St. - between 3/27/17 at 5 PM and 3/28/17 at 9 AM – victim reported find his passenger side door open and coins taken from the vehicle. Amount of loss is unknown. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle.

South Side Flats (1609,1702)

Aggravated Assault – 2700 blk. S. Water St. - 3/20/17 at 7PM – plainclothes officers were checking the area for a warrant suspect. The warrant suspect was soliciting for sex in the area and offered to perform oral sex on the plainclothes officer for $100. The suspect upon recognizing he was going to be arrested delivered a palm strike to the officers chest. The suspect (Antonio Cotton) was arrested for the outstanding warrant, prostitution, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest.

Theft from person – 2200 blk. Sarah St. - 3/26/17 at 4:45 PM – victim stated an unknown person stole his clothes out of the dryer. Amount of loss is about $150.

Theft from person – 1600 blk. E. Carson St. - 3/20/17 at 11:30 AM – victim reported her Samsung Galaxy S phone was stolen. Amount of loss is unknown.

Theft from person & Access device fraud – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. - 3/17/17 at 1 AM – victim stated she had a driver pick her up and left her belongings in the car. She contacted the driver he agreed to meet and return the items. The driver did not return the items he used her debit car instead. The driver also took the victim's driver's license and cash. Loss is over $135.

Theft by deception – 1000 blk. E. Carson St. - between 1/14/17 at midnight and 3/21/17 at 2:48 PM – manager for a local business reported receiving 2 chargebacks for deliveries. The total loss is $145.25.

Aggravated Assault – 2000 blk. Wharton St. - 3/22/17 at 10 PM – an employee was trying to stop a retail theft. A black female left the store with the merchandise. The employee asked her to return the items. The female entered the passenger side of a car and the driver tried to hit the employee with the vehicle. The employee was injured but denied medical treatment. Amount of loss is over $10.

Robbery – 1900 blk. Wharton St. - 3/25/17 at 4 AM – victim heard a knock on the door. When he answered a white male (25 to 35 years old, 6' tall) punched the victim. As a result, the victim fell to the floor and the suspect removed the victim's keys and wallet from his pocket. The suspect then threw the victim's keys. Amount of loss is $320.

Theft from person & Access Device Fraud – 2000 blk. Mary St. - 3/27/17 at 4 PM – employee reported her wallet was stolen with debit and credit cards inside. The employee received an alert letting her know someone was attempting to use her credit card. The victim canceled her cards. Unknown amount of loss.

Stolen vehicle – 2000 blk. Carey Way - 3/28/17 at 6:30 PM – victim reported he left his vehicle running to go pick up food. When he returned his black 2015 Nissan Rogue with New York plate HAA7168 was stolen.

Theft of lost or mislaid property – 300 blk. S. 9th St. - 3/27/17 at 11 AM – victim reported she left her phone outside when she was on a break. She discovered it was taken. Amount of loss is $35.

Stolen vehicle – 400 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/28/17 at 2 AM and 3/28/17 at 2 PM – victim reported her gray 2006 Nissan Xterra was stolen with PA plate GML4625. The victim stated she may have left the car open with the key inside.

Theft from person & Access device fraud – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/9/17 at 9 PM and 3/13/17 at midnight – victim reported her wallet was stolen at a local bar. The victim noticed unauthorized transactions on her bank account. Loss is over $378.

Robbery – 900 blk. E. Carson St. - 3/30/17 at 5:12 AM – employee reported being robbed at a local business. The employee explained a black male approached the register with a bag of potato chips and asked for a pen and paper. The black male then wrote "give me the money" and appeared to be holding a gun. He threatened to shoot the employee. Amount of loss is $180.

Theft of delivered property – 1800 blk. Carey Way – 3/30/17 at 1:39 PM – victim reported a package containing a pair of woman's shoes was stolen from her home. Local surveillance shoes an unknown white male stealing the package.

Theft from vehicle – Pius St & Brosville St. - between 3/20/17 at 6 PM and 3/21/17 at 7:50 AM – victim reported items stolen out of his locked vehicle. Items were health insurance card, coins, debit card, and checking account card. Amount of loss is unknown.

Allentown (1803)

Aggravated Assault – 700 blk. Eureka St. - 3/21/17 at 4 PM – officers were investigating a domestic violence call when they were confronted with white male who ran towards them even after repeated orders to stop. The white male struck the officer in the chest and resisted arrest when the officers were arresting him for aggravated assault. Thomas Weismantle was arrested.

Robbery – Allen St. & Manton Way - 3/23/17 at 12:10 PM – victim had just left a local business when she was approached by a white male (5'10", medium build, 185 pounds) and asked for a cigarette. The victim was retrieving a cigarette for the white male when he pulled the purse off of her person and ran. Loss is over $50.

Theft from vehicle – 800 blk. Carnival Way - 3/22/17 at 1 PM – victim left his car window down and when he returned to the car an hour later his Droid Razor cell phone was stolen. Loss is $1,000.

Aggravated assault – 900 blk. Climax St. - 3/25/17 at 12:10 AM - victims reported they opened the door thinking it was their relatives. Instead, 2 black males entered the home and asked for "Devon". The victims denied knowing a "Devon" and were attacked by the suspects. Both suspects had black hoodies and black jeans on. One victim was kicked in the head and lost consciousness. Both victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Theft from vehicle – 800 blk. E. Warrington Ave - 3/27/17 at 1 AM – an employee parked his work van in a public parking lot and about 1 ½ hours later he found the passenger side door open and his wallet was gone with cash and debit card. Loss is over $30.

Theft from person – 200 blk. Walter St. - 3/26/17 at 11 PM – victim reported her wallet was stolen by known actors. The wallet had state ID, social security cards, health insurance cards, birth certificate, store cards, & cash. Loss is over $200.

Stolen vehicle – 100 blk. Walter St. - between 3/27/17 at 2 PM and 3/27/17 at 11 PM – victim reported his gray 2017 Nissan Rogue was stolen. This vehicle was recovered. It was returned to the location with 500 miles added to the odometer and the smell of marijuana.

Mount Oliver (1607)

Arlington (1603)

Theft from person – 2000 blk. Spring St. - 3/20/17 at 4:40 AM – victim reported a known person stole cash from her wallet. Amount of loss is $340.

Theft & Access Device Fraud – 2700 blk. Spring St. - between 3/10/17 3:54 PM and 3/23/17 at 7 PM - victim reported charges being made to her debit card that were not authorized. The victim still had the debit card in her possession. Amount of loss is $320.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Beltzhoover (1809)

Burglary – 100 blk. Sylvania Ave. - 3/20/17 at 8:30 AM – officers observed a basement window broken (forced entry) into a home. The home was cleared for suspects. The home owner who was not on scene was contacted and notified of the findings. Officers could smell a "natural gas" odor and had fire department check the home as a precaution which was negative.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Freeland St. - 3/20/17 at 6:30 PM – victim reported a known person was allowed to enter his home for money to catch a bus. When the victim went to get cash and cigarettes the known person ransacked his home, destroyed his TV, and stole items from the home. The items were a red car jack, a black truck jack, a Sony DVD player, and prescription bottles. Amount of loss is not known.

Theft from person – Bausman St. & Bernd St. - 3/27/17 at 10 AM – officers were patrolling when the noticed a male trying to stop a car. Upon further investigation, the male (employee of a cable company) stated during the night someone had cut the cable wire and stripped it. The employee stated while on scene a white male got out of a car and took wire cutters and left in a white Mercury. Officers located the vehicle with the people inside. The wire cutters were in the vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were identified and released pending further investigation. Amount of loss is not known at this time.

Burglary – 700 blk. Bernd St. - between 3/28/17 at 5 PM and 3/29/17 at 6 PM – victim was staying with a friend when her son called her. He explained the front door was open and a neighbor had called him about a truck parked in front of his mother's home. The victim arrived and checked the home to find items stolen. Items taken were cash, silverware, portable gas generator, and screwdrivers. Amount of loss is over $5,272.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Theft & Forgery – 1900 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 3/27/17 at 1:12 PM – an owner of a local business discovered an employee was creating unauthorized money orders and later cashing them. The loss is estimated around $4,000 (possibly more).

Theft from vehicle – 500 blk. Parallel Ave. - between 3/22/17 at 9:30 PM and 3/23/17 at 7:30 AM - Victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. The items were a wristlet wallet, driver's license, student ID, debit cards, credit cards, medical cards, & gift cards. Amount of loss is over $45.

Robbery – 100 blk. E. Agnew Ave. – 3/23/17 at 8:20 PM – Officers responded to a home invasion call. Upon arrival, a female arrived on scene stating her mother was being held captive but was let go by her captors. The victim was told not to call police or they would shoot her dogs. The daughter stated her mother was fine but did not know her location. Officers cleared the residence. No one was inside. While officers were processing the scene, a white female identified as Lenora Maiolo arrived stating she had property inside the home and tried to retrieve it but a black female would not allow her access and punched her in the face. As a result, Maiolo hat a cut on her face. Officers checked and found Maiolo had a warrant for her arrest. Maiolo was taken into custody. Later, officers talked to a witness and learned several suspects entered the home and took drugs from the home.

Theft from person – 200 blk. Poplargrove St. – between 3/25/17 at 7:30 AM and 3/25/17 at 5 PM – Victim reported someone had taken his 1992 dark blue truck cap from his property. Loss is about $100.

Theft from person – 1600 blk. Concordia St. – between 3/24/17 at 9 AM and 3/24/17 at 5 PM – Victim reported a known actor took her paycheck and cashed it. Loss is $364.

Robbery & Stolen vehicle – 2200 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 3/28/17 at 9 PM – Victim reported he was leaving a local bar when 3 black males approached him. One black male in a black hoodie pulled up his hood and brandished a black firearm from his waist. The black male with the gun demanded him to give everything. The victim was forced to give his keys, cash, and Iphone 4S. The victim's car was stolen. It is a silver 2009 Lincoln MKS with PA plate KCS7555.

Burglary – 100 blk. Belplain St. – between 3/23/17 at 8:15 AM and 3/23/17 at 11:30 AM – Victim reported a home burglary. The home was entered thru a rear window. Items stolen were a Toshiba 55" flat screen TV, TBL 55" flat screen TV, Samsung 40" flat screen TV, Toshiba 32" flat screen TV, Polaroid flat screen 55", PlayStation 4, & Apple iphone 6. Loss is estimated at $3,900.

Burglary – 200 blk. Cheston St. – 3/23/17 at 7:20 AM – Victim reported her son heard a loud noise. He discovered 2 unknown black males in the kitchen. The males left and one came back and returned a set of keys that had been stolen from his mother earlier. Later, the mother discovered jewelry was scattered around her room.

Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Cheston St. – between 3/22/17 at 8:30 PM and 3/23/17 at 6:30 AM – Victim stated her work ID and keys for work were stolen from her rental car. The vehicle may have been unlocked.

Theft from person – 2400 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 3/28/17 at 12:45 PM – Victim reported a known person took her prescription patches.

Theft from person, drug possession, False ID to law enforcement, & Bench warrant – Hopeland St. & Custer Ave. – 3/28/17 at 2:25 PM – Zone detectives were performing a follow-up investigation when they observed a traffic violation. The occupants of the vehicle began moving their shoulders as if to conceal a weapon inside the vehicle. The driver gave permission for officers to check. The driver had drugs on her person. The driver (Kristine Constable) was arrested. The male passenger was trying to hide coins under clothing. The male passenger (Thomas Sasser) gave a false name to detectives. Sasser had a warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. Another female appeared on scene and interfered with officers taking Sasser into custody. She (Natalie Conte) was arrested and released on scene. Upon further investigation, detectives discovered the items Sasser was trying to conceal were stolen.

Knoxville (3001)

Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Bausman St. – between 3/17/17 at 0600 and 3/17/17 at 0800 – victim discovered tools were taken out of husband's pickup truck. Items stolen were a Hilti AVR3000 65 pound Jackhammer, Wacker 9700 portable gas generator, flexible chisel, & Hilti Clay spade. Loss is $7,800.

Robbery – 200 blk. Moore Ave. – 3/22/17 at 12:05 AM – a pizza delivery driver was delivering a pizza. He was asked if he was there to deliver pizza. He stated he was delivering the pizza. A black male was counting cash when a second black male pulled out a gun and demanded the food and the driver's money. A third actor was involved in taking the food and cash from the driver. The amount of loss is $252.72. The 3 black males are between 16 and 21 years old. About 5'7" to 5'8", medium build 135 to 140 pounds, brown complexion, and wearing hoodies and jeans.

Robbery – McKinley St. & Roll Way – 3/22/17 at 9:50 PM – Victim explained he just bought cigarettes from a local convenience store when he was approached by 4 juveniles. A white male put the victim in a headlock and demanded his money. Another white male reached into his pocket and took his money. Then punched the victim in the head. 2 black males ran off with the white males after the white male grabbed the money. First white male is 15 to 17 years old, 6'2", 180 pounds, and wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. Second white male is 15-17 years old, 5'11", 160 pounds, wearing black hoodie, blue jeans, and white Nike shoes. The 2 black males that ran off with the white males are described as between 15-17 years old, 190 pounds, wearing blue hoodies and blue jeans. Loss is $10.

Aggravated assault – Brownsville Rd & Marland St. – 3/24/17 at 6:30 AM – Victim reported an unknown white female and another person were following him. Victim stated he felt a punch and his wallet in his back pocket being taken. The white female with the pink sweatshirt and the other person ran away. The victim stated he went for help and at a friends home but they refused to help him. He returned to a relatives house were they treated his wound but when the wounds continued to bleed he called 911.

Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Arabella St. – 3/28/17 at 8:25 PM – Victim heard her car alarm go off and saw a black male in the driver's seat. The male ran from the scene when the alarm sounded.
