Reps. Readshaw and Deasy, Sen. Fontana to hold Opiate Town Hall on April 10

State Rep. Harry Readshaw will join state Rep. Dan Deasy and state Senator Wayne Fontana to co-sponsor a heroin and opiate community awareness town hall.

The town hall will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 10 at: Mt. Washington Healthy Active Living Center, 122 Virginia Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15211.

“Heroin and legal opioid overdoses and deaths have reached epidemic proportions in Western PA and all through the state and our country,” Rep. Readshaw said. “Opioid overdoses now claim more lives than traffic accidents!”

Among the agencies scheduled to participate are representatives from the: Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office; Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office; Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office; Allegheny County District Magistrate’s Office; Gateway Rehab; Freedom Healthcare Services; and Pittsburgh Mercy Health System.

In addition, Deputy Joseph Cirigliano from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office will discuss Project D.U.M.P. -- a way to safely dispose of unused and unwanted prescription medications. Medications will be collected during the town hall, as well.
