Volunteers needed to help plant trees in Mt. Washington April 8

 


Mt. Washington through the Mt. Washington Community Development Corp. was awarded 10 trees through the Treevitalize Pittsburgh Program to plant in the community.

Volunteers are needed to come out and help plant them on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. - noon.

Pre-registration for the volunteer event is required. A link to the registration page follows. 

All volunteers will be meeting at 9 a.m. at 608 Virginia Avenue, the former Haven Heights Methodist Church next to Bigham Tavern. From there, they will break into groups and the Treevitalize Team and local tree tenders will guide volunteers on where and how to plant the trees. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Volunteers are asked to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes and to dress for the weather. All plantings will be held rain or shine. Feel free to bring a reusable water bottle. All necessary tools will be provided by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and other partners.
