Zone 3 community crime alerts for March 13-19

The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: March 13-19.
Duquesne Heights (1911)
Theft by deception – 1700 blk. Grandview Ave. - 3/2/17 at 10:30 PM – victim reported he caught a taxi from the airport to a residence. He paid with a credit card. According to the victim, he found the charge on the card was for over $400 more than what he agreed.
Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)
Theft from person – 100 blk. Ruth St. - 3/10/17 at 12:08 PM – victim noticed her care giver taking out the garbage. The victim noticed the care giver was having problems with the weight of the bag. Later, the victim noticed medication and adult undergarments had been taken. The amount of loss is unknown. The garbage was still inside the home too.
Theft from vehicle – 500 blk. Meridan St. - between 3/10/17 at 5 PM and 3/13/17 at 8 AM – victim reported his company's Garmin Nuvi 1390T GPS system had been stolen from the vehicle. The amount of loss is unknown. There was no apparent damage to the vehicle.
Theft from vehicle – 400 blk. Boggs Ave. - between 3/14/17 at 5 PM and 3/15/17 at 8:35 AM – victim reported an older Garmin GPS was stolen from his vehicle. Amount of loss is unknown. The victim thinks the car doors were unlocked.
Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Boggs Ave. - between 3/7/17 at 10:23 AM and 3/14/17 at 10:23 AM – victim reported the license plate was stolen off of his vehicle. The PA plate was JSJ5065. It was stolen off of an older Jeep Wrangler.

Aggravated Assault – S. 19th St. & Merriman St. - 3/13/17 at 11:30 PM – victim reported he was sleeping in his vehicle when an unknown black male asked for a cigarette the victim and the suspect had an altercation. The victim's girlfriend who was sleeping in the car heard the noise. The victim was stabbed in the leg and transported to a local hospital.
Theft from business – 2000 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/11/17 at 4 PM and 3/13/17 at 8 AM – an employee reported money was stolen from the drawer. There was no signs of forced entry into the business. Amount of money taken was $51.
Theft from business – 200 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/10/17 at 3:30 PM and 3/13/17 at 9:30 AM – an employee reported 2 propane tanks were stolen from a work site. The tanks were marked "A&I" on the side. The amount of loss is $300.
Burglary – 100 blk. S. 15th St. - 3/14/17 at 12:15 AM – Witnesses heard glass shattering and saw a black male take a bike (orange bike) from a business and climb out the broken window. Zone 2 officers were notified about the burglary and the suspect's description and the bike in his possession. A Zone 2 officer saw the suspect pushing a bike on Forbes Avenue near the Birmingham Bridge. The suspect was detained until a witness could be brought to the scene. The suspect had blood all over his hands and a cut to his ring finger. A witness positively identified the suspect. Tacey McCoy was arrested for the Burglary. The bike was worth $3,999. It was an orange mountain bike with a price tag that read BK668429+XL Salse 2017 Woodsmoke X01. Officers were able to notify the business owner.
Theft from person – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. - 3/12/17 at 1:30 AM – victim placed his jacket with his passports on a table of a local business. When the victim returned the jacket and passports were gone. The amount of loss is over $15.
Theft from vehicle – 4600 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/15/17 at 7 PM and 3/16/17 at 9:30 AM - employees reported 4 tires and rims stolen off of a vehicle while it was parked. Loss is $1,600. The tires and rims were stolen from a 2011 Dodge Charger.
Theft from person – 100 blk. S. 18th St. - between 4/1/16 and 3/15/17 at midnight – relative reported the theft of 2 firearms from a family member who passed away. Both were Smith & Wesson blue steel with a brown grip. Calibers were .38 & .32. Amount of loss is unknown.
Theft by unlawful taking – 1900 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/16/17 at 10 PM and 3/17/17 at 10:15 AM – business owner reported a sign was stolen from the business. Amount of loss is not known.
Theft by unlawful taking – 500 blk. Michigan St. - between 3/1/17 at midnight and 3/17/17 at 11:30 AM – victim reported a set of floor mats and seat covers were stolen from a package that was left at the home. Loss is unknown.
Theft from person – 700 blk. Excelsior St. - between 3/14/17 at 6 AM and 3/14/17 at 11:45 AM – victim left for work and when the victim returned the PlayStation 4 video game and controller were gone. The only people in the home during the time was the victim's children and their friend. Amount of loss is $350.

Theft from person – 2100 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 3/10/17 at 5:55 PM – victim reported he hired 2 people he did not know to move equipment for his business because he was not feeling well. Later, he noticed his prescription medication was gone. The amount of loss is unknown.
Theft from person – 100 blk. Stewart Ave. - 3/14/17 at 5 PM – victim reported a known female took his Access card. The victim does not know the amount of loss.
Burlgary – 100 blk. Calhoun Ave. - between 3/14/17 at 9:45 AM and 3/14/17 at 1:05 PM – victim reported a home burglary. The suspect made entry thru a rear window. The suspect stole jewelry and cash from the home. The amount of loss is $4,440.
Overbrook (3204, 3207)
St. Clair (1606)
Stolen vehicle – 300 blk. Reifert St. - between 3/13/17 at 11:30 AM and 3/13/17 at 2:30 PM – victim reported someone had stolen his black 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan. It had a PA plate DRC-7163.
Burglary – 100 blk. Charles St. - between 3/14/17 at 5:30 PM and 3/14/17 at 6:14 PM – victim reported a burglary to her home. The only item taken was cash. Amount of loss is $3,500. A garage window was broken in relation to the burglary.
Robbery – 200 blk. Moore Ave. - 3/17/17 at midnight – pizza delivery driver came to Zone 3 station to report being robbed. The driver stated he rang the bell and 3 black males with bandanas showed up with a gun and a knife. The suspects demanded the driver's money which he handed to the suspects. The driver was able to get away. The loss is over $150. The driver was unable to give a better description of the suspects at this time.
