The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: Feb. 27 to March 5.
Duquesne Heights (1911)
Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)
Theft from person – 100 blk. Ruth St. - between 2/21/17 at noon and 2/26/17 at noon – victim reported a known person cashed a check on his account. Loss is $170.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Ruth St. - 2/28/17 at 11:20 AM – victim reported he parked his company vehicle. His co-worker forgot to lock it when they got lunch. The victim noticed several items were taken from the vehicle. Items were a leather phone case/wallet combo with a magnetic clasp, PNC debit card, AT&T LG G4 cellphone, lottery ticket, health insurance card, pass to Phipps Conservatory, & loyalty/rewards cards. Loss is over $431. A company credit card was also stolen.
Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Labelle St. - between 2/25/17 at midnight and 2/25/17 at 7 AM – victim reported leaving her vehicle unlocked and having her wallet stolen. The victim found her wallet with everything in it. There was no loss.
Theft from vehicle – 300 blk. Labelle St. - between 2/25/17 at midnight and 2/25/17 at 7 AM – victim reported his vehicle was ransacked and does not secure the cloth top because someone would just cut it. There was no loss.
Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Bertha St. - between 2/28/17 at 8:30 PM and 3/1/17 at 6:15 AM – victim reported items stolen from her vehicle. Items were a pair of black Under Armor spikes, 2 elastic stretch bands, 10 yellow softballs, a softball backpack, & 2 Wilson baseball gloves. Loss is $1,350.
Aggravated Assault – 200 blk. Boggs Ave. - 2/26/17 at 3 AM – victim reported a known suspect and her were fighting in a bar when she was hit in the head by several other black females with beer bottles. The victim identified 3 suspects in this incident. The victim needed several stiches to treat her wound.
Theft from person – 700 blk. Hargrove St. - between 3/1/17 at 9 AM and 3/1/17 at 5 PM – victim reported her vehicle key was stolen out of a tow lot. Amount of loss is unknown. The victim has named a suspect in the incident.

Aggravated Assault – 2700 blk. Eccles St. - 3/1/17 at 4:30 PM – victim stated as she was walking 2 black males in a gray Honda sedan drove past her shooting at her 3 times. The victim stated the shots were not loud. The 2 black males were about 16-25 years of age.
Theft from person – 3100 blk. Mary St. - between 3/4/17 at 11 PM and 3/5/17 10 AM – victim discovered his burgundy 21-speed Expedition bicycle was stolen from his porch. Amount of loss is $299.39.
Burglary – 100 blk. Holt St. - between 3/4/17 at 10:30 AM and 3/5/17 at 1:20 AM – victims reported someone broke into their home thru the rear door. Several firearms and ammunition was stolen. The firearms were a Kel-tech KSG 12 gauge shotgun, Panther Arms DPMS 308 recon assault rifle, Arrow Precision Arms Ar-15 assault rifle, Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm pistol, Smith & Wesson Shield Performance Center 9mm, Beretta Mini Cougar .45 pistol, 30 magazines loaded with 5.56 rounds, 4x 9mm magazines, 4x .45 magazines, & a black, red, and gray backpack with 200 rounds of ammunition. Amount of loss is unknown at this time.
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Pius St. - between 2/16/17 at noon and 3/2/17 at noon – victim reported her company car was damaged and items were stolen from the vehicle. The suspect pried open the passenger side door and stole 2 gas cards and silver. Amount of loss is unknown.
Burglary (attempt) - 100 blk. Pius St. - between 2/27/17 at noon and 3/2/17 at noon - victim reported someone attempted to break into her home through the rear door. The victim observed the rear door knob was loose and was not working properly. Amount of damage is unknown.
South Side Flats (1609,1702)
Theft from person – 2100 blk. E. Carson St. - between 2/28/17 at 10:30 AM and 2/28/17 at 9:30 PM – victim reported her prescription medication was stolen. Loss is unknown. The victim had contractors in her apartment during the day. Other people have access as well. There was no signs of forced entry.
Theft from vehicle – S. 13th St & Bingham St. - 3/1/17 at 1:30 AM – officers responded to a male riding a bicycle checking car doors. A description of the male was given (white male, gray sweatshirt, black backpack, & riding a black bicycle). Officers checked the area and found a male matching the description. An officer saw the male/suspect trying to open a car door on a black truck. The suspect was holding a black Coach wallet. The wallet did not belong to the suspect. The suspect also had $215 in cash. The suspect stated he found the wallet and just got paid. The male also had porcelain pieces from a spark plug used to shatter car windows. During this investigation, officers learned a female called 911 to report her wallet was stolen. The female stated she needed her ID to get into a bar and went back to get her wallet. On her way back to retrieve the wallet, she observed a white male wearing a gray hoodie and riding a black bike bend over and pick her wallet up off the ground. She yelled at the male to stop but he rode away. The female victim was the owner of the wallet and her money was returned to her ($200). She positively identified the suspect. The suspect (Michael John Bayles) was arrested.
Theft from person – 1300 blk. E. Carson St. - between 3/1/17 at 11:30 AM and 3/2/17 at 11:30 PM – victim reported his dark blue Specialized Edition Bike with a Gatto bike shop sticker was stolen. Loss is $800. The victim's bike lock and cable were both broken & left at the scene.
Robbery – 100 blk. S. 18th St. - 3/5/17 at 4 PM – victim reported her ex-boyfriend grabbed her purse off of her and stole cash, suboxone pills, and sleep medication. Loss is over $30.
Theft from person – 1200 blk. Arlington Ave. - between 2/25/17 at 10:30 PM and 2/26/17 at 4 AM – victim reported she lost her cell phone after catching a "taxi" from Northside to her boyfriend's residence. She called her phone continuously and someone answered it. They arranged to meet at a local business but the other party never showed. The phone is an iPhone 7 with black Lifeproof case. Loss is $649.
Burglary – 200 blk. Walter St. - 3/4/17 at 7:48 PM – victim reported she was notified by neighbors someone was in her basement. Officers arrived and cleared the house but could not locate the suspect. The victim believes it is a person known to her. This known person was displaying irrational behavior, and she told him to leave her home. Entry into the home was thru a basement window.
Mount Oliver (1607)
Robbery – 200 blk. Rothman St. - 2/28/17 at 4:30 PM – victim stated as he was walking 2 unknown black males approached him and began walking and talking to him. A suspect walking behind him pulled down his hat over his face making it into a mask. The suspect pulled out a pistol and struck the victim in the head and demanded him to give him something or he would be shot. Several items were taken from the victim. The items were 2 packs of cigarettes, brown Nike wallet with cash and ID, a brownie, & a cookie. Loss is $55. The victim had to be treated at a local hospital for a large gash to his head from being struck with the pistol. One suspect is a black male with short blonde hair and a tattoo on right arm wearing black sweatshirt and black casual type pants. Second suspect is a black male wearing a blue ski mask and black sweat shirt. Both suspects are about 16 to 18 years old.
Theft from person – 1800 blk. Arlington Ave. - between 3/5/17 at 11 AM and 3/5/17 at 8:49 PM – victim had Amazon deliver items to her home. Amazon documented they were delivered. However, when the victim checked they were stolen. The items are art supplies: 8x10" black & white picture mattes, 5x7" white picture mattes, Prima marketing watercolor confections (tropical, the classics, & decadent pies), and scrapbook adhesives. Loss is $146.20.
Robbery – 1900 blk. Arlington Ave. - 3/5/17 at 5:45 PM – victim reported he was approached by a white male about 5'8". The male asked for change. When the victim pulled out his wallet and began to get a small bill the male grabbed the wallet and began punching the victim. The victim held onto the wallet and the male fled without the wallet. The white male was with a white female. There was no monetary loss.
Arlington Heights (1604)
Robbery – Curtin Ave & E. Warrington Ave. - 3/5/17 at 4:20 PM – officers were stopped by a witness who told them multiple males were trying to steal a vehicle with a firearm. One male was wearing a red jump suit. A witness told officers a suspicious person was on Curtain wearing all red. Officers stopped a vehicle trying to leave the area. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. One passenger was sitting on a plastic bag of suspected marijuana. Officers checked the area for the firearm who a witness stated was thrown by one of the suspects. Officers were unable to locate the firearm or the owner/victim of the vehicle. Kimberly Edwards was arrested at the scene and released for the possession of the marijuana. Investigation is pending.
Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)
Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Cedricton St. - between 2/28/17 at 10:15 PM and 3/1/17 at 8:45 AM – victim reported his vehicle had been rifled through. There was no loss.
Theft from vehicle – 1000 blk. Theona St. - between 3/1/17 at 10 PM and 3/2/17 at 5:45 AM – victim reported finding all four tires and rims stolen from his Ford F150. Loss is over $1,000.
Theft from person – 2600 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 3/1/17 at 10:38 PM – an employee was closing the business for the night when he noticed a white male/suspect hunched over a machine with a screwdriver. The suspect left the business but went into another. The suspect then came out of the other business and the employee was able to identify the suspect. Dennis Michael Flaherty was arrested with a screwdriver and 27 dollars in quarters which was returned to the business.
Theft from person – 2100 Brownsville Rd. - 3/3/17 at 9 AM – victim left her iPhone 6s near a drop-off window at a local business. When she returned the phone was gone. Loss is $600.
Overbrook (3204, 3207)
St. Clair (1606)
Aggravated assault – Brownsville Rd & Alice St. - 2/27/17 at 7:35 PM – victim reported being shot in the neck with a BB gun. The victim looked over and saw 4 black males about 17 to 19 years old firing at him. The victim used his clothing as protection. The victim was bleeding from the neck but refused medical treatment.
Robbery – 400 blk. Orchard Pl. - 3/5/17 at 2:08 AM – victim reported an ex-boyfriend stole her key. The ex-boyfriend then returned and threw the key at her. She left only to have the ex-boyfriend show up at her friends home and smash the victim's car windows.
