Zone 3 Community Crime Alerts Feb. 6-12


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: February 6-12.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Theft from person – 200 blk. Sweetbriar St. - between 11/8/16 at Midnight and 2/1/17 at 1 PM – victim reported her video camera recording system was stolen. The camera system is a black Lorex camera with 8" monitor. There was no signs of forced entry. Loss is $140.

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft from person – 100 blk. Craighead St. - between 1/28/17 at Midnight and 2/3/17 at Midnight – victim discovered 3 checks were forged. The suspect is the victim's handyman. According to the victim, the handyman stole the checks and cashed them at a local bank. The total amount is $165.

Robbery – 100 blk. Haberman Ave. - 2/10/17 at 12:08 AM – a pizza delivery driver stated he asked a black male if he ordered a pizza and the male responded "yes". When the delivery driver approached the black male he pulled a shotgun or long gun on him. The suspect then stole the pizza and fled toward Secane Street. Loss is $15. The suspect is described as a black male, 6', 190 pounds, and between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. The suspect was wearing a red hoodie, gray sweat pants, and black mask/ski mask.

Theft from person – 200 blk. Shiloh St. - between 1/20/17 at Midnight and 1/24/17 at Midnight – victim reported mailing her 14K rose gold engagement ring with a 2 carat morganite stone to a jeweler in New York City. When the jeweler opened the package the ring was missing. Amount of loss is $1,300.

Robbery – 100 blk. Boggs Ave. - 2/10/17 at 12:25 AM – victim reported being approached by a black male about 5'10" with a thin build and wearing a black hoodie with red and white stripes. The suspect demanded the victim's money. The victim stated it looked like the suspect had a fake machine gun. The victim told the suspect she only had a few dollars and the suspect threatened to kill the victim. The suspect then fled up Boggs Avenue. Loss is $20.

Theft from person – 200 blk. Ulysses St. - between 1/29/17 at 6 AM and 2/9/17 at 7 AM - victim reported while he was out of town. His roommate had friends over and items were taken from his room. The items are W-2, bank account information, birth certificate, and mail. Amount of loss cannot be determined at this time. The suspects names are known to the victim.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Barry St. - between 6/1/16 at Midnight and 6/16/16 at 23:59 PM – victim reported his firearm stolen from his vehicle. The firearm was a Kimber Ultra .45 ACP. Loss is $1,500.

Theft from vehicle – 2600 blk. Josephine St. - between 2/4/17 at 3:30 AM and 2/4/17 at 2 PM – victim reported the rear windshield of his rental vehicle was smashed and 2 suitcases were stolen from the vehicle. Loss is $796.96. Items taken are a large blue and a small red Samsonite suitcase, dress shirts, pants, a hard drive, flash drive, items from Best Buy and various cables.

Theft from vehicle – S. 18th St. & Josephine St. - 2/11/17 at 1 AM – an owner reported to Zone 4 officers his tow truck driver hit parked vehicles earlier that day and was arrested. The owner stated other witnesses on scene observed another tow truck driver still a wheel of the company's tow truck. The owner contacted the driver who told him the tire was at the shop and he could pick it up. When the owner tried to retrieve the wheel the driver had left. Loss is $2,500.

South Side Flats (1609,1702)

Theft from person – S. 24th St. & E. Carson St. - 2/7/17 at 6:30 PM - victim stated her child's father took her vehicle fob and Iphone 6. Loss is $1,000.

Stolen vehicle – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. - 2/5/17 at 11:50 PM – victim reported leaving the vehicle running due to a broken door handle the car could not be locked. An unknown person stole the vehicle. A tan 2008 Mercury was stolen with PA plate JWP0055.

Burglary & stolen vehicle – 100 blk. S. 19th St. - between 2/6/17 at 1 AM and 2/6/17 at 6 AM – victim reported waking up and finding the back door was open. The victim also observed several items were stolen from the home. A silver 2011 Macbook Pro, a silver 2014 Macbook Air, a wallet with credit cards & driver's license, and a key for a 2011 Honda Accord. The black 2011 Honda Accord sedan with PA plate KFZ4208 was stolen too. Amount of loss is over $2,400.

Theft from vehicle – S. 19th St. & E. Carson St. - 2/6/17 at 6 PM – victim reported he stopped into a bar for about an hour and mentioned to a friend he had just purchased some prescriptions. His friend was with a another male he does not know that well. His friend left the bar about 30 minutes before he did. The victim found items stolen out of his vehicle. Victim states access can be made a specific way & only his friend and another person know how. Items stolen were an old laptop, checkbooks, receipts, birth certificate, marriage certificate, social security cards, bottle of Xanax, and a bottle of Aderal.

Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. E. Carson St. - between 12/31/16 at 2:40 PM and 12/31/16 at 11:40 PM – victim reported his Taurus G2 9mm firearm stolen from his vehicle almost 2 months ago. The victim thought he may have left he gun at home. Victim stated he was to busy with work and did not have time to report his stolen firearm. Loss is about $239.

Theft of services – 1800 blk. E. Carson St. - 2/6/17 at 2:12 PM – employee reported a couple left without paying their bill. Amount $54.22. There is video available but the manager was not at the location to access the video.

Arson – 100 blk. S. 6th St. - 2/6/17 at 11:20 PM - Officers responded to a warehouse on fire. Upon further investigation, a homeless camp was on fire. Items on fire were camping equipment, blankets, bicycles, & other small items. Loss is unknown as well as the owner(s).

Theft from person – 2000 blk. Wharton St. - between 2/8/17 at 9 AM and 2/8/17 at 4 PM – victim reported his rear wheel from his bicycle was stolen. Loss is unknown at this time.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. S. 4th St. -between 2/8/17 at 7:15 AM and 2/8/17 at 4:45 PM – victim reported the front side passenger window was broken and items were taken from the vehicle. Items were a $20 and a purple swim bag with blue & green swimsuit goggles with cap. Loss is $120.

Burglary – 1800 blk. Sarah St. - between 2/11/17 at 10 PM and 2/12/17 at Noon – victim reported his vehicle was broken into and the garage door opener was stolen and used to gain access to his garage. The suspect then took a blue and black Trek Mountain bike (21 speed). Loss is $1,020. The victim stated he thought he locked his car. Point of access to car is unknown.

Burglary with Stolen vehicle – 1800 blk. Larkins Way – between 2/11/17 at 10 PM and 2/12/17 at 1 AM – the victims returned home and found the front door was unlocked and their car & house keys were gone. The victims also observed their vehicles were stolen as well. The victims stated the home was locked when they left. A short time later officers were updated one of the stolen vehicles (a gray black 2015 Hyundai Elantra) was on Arabella going the wrong way. When officers arrived on scene they found the Elantra had wrecked into the rear of a home on Redlyn and the driver had fled. Amount of loss is unknown. The other stolen vehicle is a black 2010 Toyota RAV4 SUV with PA plate VHD2848.

Allentown (1803)

Theft from person – 900 blk. Lillian Way – between 2/7/17 at 12:30 AM and 2/8/17 at Noon – victim reported his house and car keys were stolen. Victim stated the keys were left in the front door. The loss is $400 due to the car key.

Theft from person – 100 blk. Thielman St. - between 2/7/17 at 6:30 PM and 2/7/17 at 11:40 PM – victim reported items were stolen from her home. Items were a PS4, controllers for PS4, & 3 video games. Loss is $800. The suspect is known to the victim.

Burglary – 100 blk. Spencer Ave. - between 1/17/17 at 4 PM and 2/6/17 at 3:30 PM – officers were summoned to a burglary. The reporting person stated his wife owned the home and there was forced entry into the home. Officers cleared the home. Copper pipe and a red Milwaukee reciprocating saw was stolen. Loss is over $100 plus the damage to property entering thru front window and basement.

Burglary – 1400 blk. Nobles Ln. - between 2/8/17 at 2 AM and 2/8/17 at 5:45 PM – victim was sitting on the front porch when foot steps were heard from inside of the house. The victim checked the house and saw a female run out the front door. The front door had pry marks on it and the side door had paint chipped off of it. The living room was ransacked and items were stolen from the living room area. Items stolen were a black HP Pavilion laptop, a gold cross necklace with diamonds, Band of Brother DVD box set, 2 video games, and various pills. Loss is over $1,655.

Theft from person – 200 blk. Parkfield St. - between 2/9/17 at 3 PM and 2/9/17 at 9:30 PM – victim reported his relative stole $900 from his bedroom. The relative's information is known. There was no forced entry into the home.

Burglary – 100 blk. Duffland St. - between 2/9/17 at 6:30 PM and 2/10/17 at 3 AM – owner reported his 2008 white and black Yamaha YZ250F with red wheel hubs was stolen out of the basement. The suspect kicked-in the basement door and stole the motorcycle. Loss is $3,000. There was no license plate assigned to the motorbike.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Theft from vehicle – 2500 blk. Library Rd. - between 2/7/17 at 7 PM and 2/8/17 at 9:16 AM – victim parked the vehicle. In the morning, the victim observed the license plate ( PA plate KDV 4266) was stolen. Loss is cost of replacing license plate.

St. Clair (1606)

Stolen vehicle – 100 blk. Rochelle St. - between 2/4/17 at 10 PM and 2/6/17 at 11 AM - the victim reported she left her keys in the car because it usually needs jumped and came out this morning to find it was taken. The vehicle is a black 2005 GMC Envoy with PA plate JYX4271.

Theft from person – 300 blk. Suncrest St. - between 1/11/17 at 12:46 PM and 1/11/17 at 4 PM – victim reported FedEx delivered a pair of Nike shoes to her home. When the victim arrived the package was stolen. Loss is $64.99.
