Pittsburgh accepts proposal to move forward with fire boat


The Pittsburgh Public Safety Department and the Bureau of Fire have accepted a proposal for a fire boat submitted by Lake Assault Boats. A total of three bids submitted.

Pending a final review, Lake Assault will move forward with building the fire boat that will have the capacity to pump 3,000 gallons of water per minute and supply water to on-shore operations. The 30-foot boat will feature the latest electronic suite that includes sonar and forward oking infrared cameras. The Superior, Wisconsin-based company will build the boat for $542,750. No delivery date has been established. Interviews will be granted at a time when more details have been confirmed.
