Zone 3 community crime alerts for Dec. 5-12


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: December 5, 2016 thru December 11, 2016.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Burglary/ Criminal Mischief- 1200 Block of Lewis Street- Between 12/2/16 at 12:00 PM and 12/5/16 at 5:30 PM- Victim states that his detached garage had been burglarized. Victim states actor gained entry by prying open a rear door, and stole multiple items. Actor also left graffiti which read “B2Qd” in blue ink.

Theft from vehicle- 200 block of Edith St. - between 11/30/16 at 11:00 PM and 12/1/16 at 6:00 AM (reported 12/6/16) - Victim parked his vehicle in lot and did not lock his vehicle. Actor stole victims Ipad Air 2 out of his back pack which was in the vehicle.

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft from vehicle- 300 block of Woodruff St. - between 12/4/16 at 4:30 PM and 12/5/16 and 8:00 AM- Victim states that his vehicle was parked in his driveway, and broken into during the night. Victim states there was no damage to the vehicle, and a silver flashlight was stolen from the vehicle.

Theft from person- 400 Blk. of Griffin St. – On 12/2 between 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM (Reported 12/9)- Victim states that his girlfriend had friends over their home, and he viewed that his nail gun was missing. Victim states that his girlfriend viewed the theft, and provided Officers with actor information. Officers to obtain warrant.

Theft from vehicle- 300 Block of Kearsarge St. - between 12/4/16 at 6:00 PM and 12/5/16 at 8:15 AM- Victim states that he parked his vehicle and that it was ransacked at some point during the night. There is no damage to the vehicle and nothing was taken.

Aggravated Assault- Southern Avenue and Simms St. – On 12/3 between 1:00 AM and 11:30 PM (reported 12/9) – Reporting person states that his nephew was beat up and robbed at this location at gunpoint by two black males.

Criminal mischief/ Aggravated Assault- 800 block of Windom St.- On 12/5/16 at 11:12 PM- Victim reported that he was driving on Windom St. when an unknown black sedan pulled up behind him, and driver began shooting in the area, hitting his vehicle once. Unknown actor hit multiple vehicles parked in the area.

Burglary – 3100 blk. Josephine St. - 12/6 between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM – Victim states copper pipes were removed today. It appears the suspect made entry through a basement window which appeared to have been forced.

Burglary – 900 blk. Eleanor St. - between 12/4 and 12/7 - Victim states he is in the process of moving into the residence. He came to find a rear window smashed and copper pipe had been taken out of the residence. Suspect left through the basement door.

Robbery/burglary (Home invasion) – 2800 blk. Mary St. - 12/8 at 9:00 AM – Victim states she was sleeping in bed when she heard a noise downstairs. She awoke to an unknown BF suspect in her bedroom demanding money. The victim stated she didn't have any money and the suspect grabbed her by her hair, dragged her out of bed and downstairs. The suspect hit her while yelling to give her money. At one point the suspect let go of her and started smashing glasses and dishes demanding money. The suspect grabbed the victim again by the hair and dragged her through the broken glass and let go to grab a credit card and access card from a counter then fled from the residence. The victim sustained a cut foot due to the broken glass and was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

South Side Flats (1609, 1702)

Theft from vehicle- Sidney Street and S. 25th Street- between 12/4/16 at 1:00 PM and 12/6/16 at 8:00 AM- Reporting person states that she parked her vehicle in the apartment complex parking lot, and observed that the vehicle had been rummaged through during the night. There was nothing taken, and no damage to the vehicle.

Theft from person- 1500 block E Carson Street- on 12/5/16 at 1:15 PM- Victim states that she was at a bar in the area, and she placed her wallet on the bar. Victim states that she observed her wallet, Iphone 6, $150.00, and her US passport were missing.

Theft from person- 1700 block E Carson St.- between 9/13/16 at 12:00 AM and 10/9/16 at 3:10 PM- (Reported 12/6/16 at 3:10 PM)- Victim/ Owner of business states that she believes suspect has been avoiding paying for purchases, based on disputes suspect has been filing through their bank to obtain refunds.

Theft from person – 2200 blk. E. Carson St. - 12/9 between 12:30 AM and 12:35 AM – Victim states they had parked their car in front of their residence/apartment and had gone in for "5 minutes". When they came back outside they saw the suspect had taken their 7 ft. Douglas Fir Christmas tree from on top of their car. It had been tied down with saran wrap which had been cut and left behind. Value $40.

Theft from person/access device fraud – 1600 blk. E. Carson St. - between 12/3 at 11:35 PM and 12/4 at 12:10 AM – Victim reports he lost his wallet while inside a business. The suspect made unauthorized transactions in the amount of $63 and an attempt for $100 which was declined. Inside his wallet was $30 and his driver's license.

Burglary/criminal mischief – 2100 blk. Brownsville Rd. - 12/8 at 12:40 AM – Officers responded to a burglar alarm at a business. They observed the front door glass was shattered. The owner arrived on scene and could not see anything that had been taken, however a glass refrigeration door was open. Video surveillance footage was viewed and two suspects were seen around the business.

Theft from person- Intersection of E. Carson St. and S 27th St. – On 12/7 between 12:00 PM and 11:00 PM (reported 12/9) - Victim states that he dropped his wallet at the above location and someone picked it up and began making transactions on his card.

Burglary (Business) – 31 S. 27th St.- Between 12/10 at 8:00 PM and 12/11 at 3:30 AM- Owner of business states that actor came into the store and stole change and cash.

Burglary (Residence) – 2300 blk. E Carson St. – 12/10 between 6:45 PM and 7:37 PM- Victim reports his apartment was broken into, and multiple electronics were stolen.

Theft from person – E. Carson St. and Terminal Way- On 12/9 between 1:00 PM and 9:12 PM- Victim states that he parked his White Buick Le sabre (PA Plate GZG 7634) at this intersection, and when he returned it had been stolen.

Theft from person- 1500 Blk. E Carson St. – On 12/8 at 11:00 PM- Victim states that her Neurontin pills were stolen from inside her bag while she was inside a bar in the area.

Theft from person- 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – On 12/10 at 11:40 PM – Victim states that she placed her iphone on the counter at the bar, and ordered a drink. Victim states that she returned and the iphone was stolen.

Allentown (1803)

Theft from person- 800 blk. Proctor Way- On 12/10 between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM- Victim states that she had $926.00 stolen from her wallet by an ex-boyfriend while he was inside her residence. Officer to obtain warrant for actor.

Theft from person- 500 blk. Horning St.- Between 12/1 at 5:00 AM and 12/10 at 12:00 PM- Victim states that she had $4,900.00 taken from her home by possible known actor.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Dengler St. - between 12/7 at 8:00 PM and 12/8 at 5:15 AM – Victim states he found his passenger door open and his Ipod missing from his car. He found a purse outside and near his car which had been taken from another theft from vehicle. Value $200.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Dengler St. - between 12/7 at 9:00 PM and 12?8 at 5:15 AM – Officer made contact with the victim after another victim had found her purse near his car that had been broken into. This victim states she had left her purse inside her car which was parked in her driveway. She states $400 was missing from her purse.

Theft by deception- 1500 block of Nobles Ln.- Between 10/01/16 at 12:00 PM and 12/5/16 at 1:50 PM- Victim states that she ordered hoagies and candy from a juvenile going to door to door selling them with the girl scouts. Victim states she never received her purchases.

Theft from a person- 200 block of Zara Street- On 11/22/16 at 12:01 AM (reported 12/6/16)- Victim states that she ordered a package to be delivered on 11/22, and never received the package.

Stolen auto – 100 blk. Zara St. - 12/1 between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM (reported 12/7) - Victim states his car was stolen from this location. The keys were not inside and the car had been locked. PA plate KFS9934, 2013 Dodge Avenger.

Robbery – Zara St. At Grimes Ave.- 12/7 between 7:45 PM and 8:00PM – Victim was at a bus stop at this intersection when she was approached by 2 BM suspects. One put a gun to her face while the other grabbed her purse from her grasp. She struggled with him and she was knocked to the ground and the suspects fled with her purse. She walked around the area for a few hours looking for her purse in case they had dropped it. She states she did locate it but items were missing from it. Stolen was 2 packs of cigarettes, bus pass, wallet, various ID cards, cell phone, $86, and 3 prescriptions.

Criminal Trespass (Residence) – 200 blk. Suncrest St. – On 12/9 between 9:00 AM and 1:40 PM- Victim states that she left her doors unlocked and returned home to find that food and a back pack belonging to an unknown male were in her residence.

Aggravated Assault- 300 blk. Mathews Ave. – On 12/11 at 4:40 PM- Officers dispatched to residence for 2 people stabbed during a family domestic. Actor reportedly stabbed male multiple times to obtain oxycodone bottles which were in his pocket. Victims are in stable condition, and actor has been arrested.

Auto theft- 300 blk. Alice St. – Between 12/10 at 10:30 PM and 12/11 at 8:30 AM- Victim reported his 2005 Saturn Ion (PA Plate ENA 9135) was stolen from outside his residence. Victim found his vehicle on 12/11 at approximately 4:00 PM on the 200 blk. of Arabella Street.

Aggravated Assault- 400 blk. of Alice Street- On 12/11 at 1:23 PM – Officers responded to the area for a male shot. Reporting person states that approximately 7 rounds were shot out of a red vehicle leaving the area. Victim taken to Mercy hospital in good condition.

Burglary (residence)- 100 blk. Knox Ave. – On 12/9 between 6:30 AM and 12:15 PM- Victim states that her apartment was broken into and multiple Christmas presents were stolen, to include an Xbox one, multiple xbox games, baby clothing, Timberland boots, and board games. Victim believes actor gained entry by window located on Dove Way.
