Chamber kicks off Holiday Season with Mittens & Mingles fundraiser

The South Side Chamber of Commerce will present its fifth annual Mittens & Mingles holiday fundraiser on Thursday, Dec. 1, from 6-10 p.m. at Clear Story Studio, 1931 Sidney Street in the heart of South Side. This is a festive attire requested and "over 21" event.

As the presenting sponsor, UPMC Mercy will be joined by other sponsors and donors including chamber members, South Side businesses, residents and friends. Always a dazzling and popular annual South Side fundraiser, Mittens & Mingles again will kick off the holiday season in the Historic South Side business district and neighborhood flats and slopes on the first Thursday in December.

The retro-chic celebration will showcase tasty specialty signature drinks from Carmella's, Stagioni, The Urban Tap, Acacia, Doublewide Grill and Steel Cactus with innovative food pairings by Le Petit Chocolat. The charcuterie and sweet and sassy boards, craft beer, wine bar and holiday music have been designed to complement the festive culinary and specialty drink delights.

As part of the event, the chamber invites community support for The Brashear Association by donating $5 for a #ssmittentree mitten. The chamber will hang a personalized holiday mitten for each $5 donation on a special 11-foot #ssmittentree at the December 1 Mittens & Mingles event.

All dedicated $5 mitten donations, 100 percent of them, will be used to purchase toys for kids and Giant Eagle gift cards for The Brashear Association's holiday assistance programs.

All other event net proceeds will support the South Side Welcome Center, which serves as the South Side Chamber of Commerce business district headquarters, a VisitPittsburgh official information center, and a volunteer center for the South Side Clean Team and other community initiatives.
