Donation supports veterans program

During one of the largest Veterans Day breakfasts in the Keystone State, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania’s Veteran employee resource group presented a $10,000 check funded from the NiSource Charitable Foundation to the Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania, Inc. (VLP) in support of their Pittsburgh Urban Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP).

“In recognition of Veteran’s Day, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is honored to have the opportunity to partner with the VLP on this important initiative to provide employment assistance and training services to homeless Veterans of Urban Southwestern Pennsylvania,” said Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania general manager and veteran Mike Davidson.

A core focus of service for the VLP includes the mission of employment. This involves providing employment counseling and guidance for job referrals, resume assistance, workshops, and networking for homeless veterans. As part of this mission, the HVRP offers comprehensive job placement and supportive services, addressing the needs of homeless Veterans who face obstacles as they seek meaningful employment.

“Veterans Day is an opportunity to take a moment to honor U.S. Military Veterans, remembering their service and sacrifice, and to give thanks to these brave men and women who have defended our country, our freedom, and our way of life,” said Veterans Leadership Program Director of Development Toshua Jarrett. “We are grateful for the support of Columbia Gas on this very special occasion.”
