Back to School carnival at Arlington PreK-8

Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8 will celebrate its new location, the newly renovated Murray facility, with a special Back-to- School Carnival on August 25 from 5-7 p.m.

The event will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Pittsburgh School Superintendent Anthony Hamlet and Board Member Cynthia Falls at 5:30 p.m. Families and community members are invited to participate in a community resource carnival and tour the facility. Free haircuts will be available as well as food and fun for everyone.

Pittsburgh Arlington is at 800 Rectenwald Street, Pittsburgh PA 15210.

On December 16, 2015, the Pittsburgh School Board approved the closures of both Arlington facilities, as well as the reopening and renovation of the Murray facility to accommodate the relocation of Pittsburgh Arlington students for the start of the 2016-17 school year.

The move provides the Arlington school community access to a larger newly renovated facility in one year instead of the three years it would have taken to renovate both Arlington buildings. With approximately 78,168 square footage, the Murray facility has a library, a cafeteria, an auditorium, a gymnasium, and a playground.

Renovations to the facility included ADA compliant restrooms, a roof replacement, masonry work, new windows and flooring, a new boiler, paving work, new electrical and lighting systems and air conditioning.

It would have been nice if the school district would have sent this information out to the parents. I have yet to get a letter from the school or the transportation office of what's going to happen for the new school year except for the letter we received about uniforms. It is Wednesday August 24th and I have yet to receive anything, any kind of information regarding the new school year and school starts Monday.
