The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: August 1st, 2016 thru

August 7th, 2016.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft by deception – 400 blk. Kambach St. – 8/1 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – Victim received a call from the suspect claiming he was from the FBI and was informed there was an outstanding warrant relating to loans. The victim was told to purchase Itunes gift cards and provide the redemption codes. Value $5,500.

Stolen auto – 100 blk. Beltzhoover Ave. – 8/1 between 12:00 AM and 8/2 at 12:45 AM – Victim states she parked her car in front of her house. A short times later she discovered it was gone. The vehicle was recovered by the victim’s son who had seen it drive past him and he followed it. He confronted the female suspect and she fled. The son drove the car back to the victim’s house.

Robbery/burglary – 100 blk. Amabell St. – 8/2 between 12:15 AM and 12:42 AM – Victim states when he came home he was confronted by 3 suspects, one with a gun. He was struck in the head with the gun. One suspect went upstairs and when he came back downstairs, the 3 of them left. One suspect took the victims cellphone prior to leaving. The victim did receive a couple stitches to his head.

Theft from vehicle – 200 blk. Plymouth St. – between 8/5 at 6:00 PM and 8/6 at 6:30 AM – Victim reports someone gained access to the inside of his truck. Taken was a pair of binoculars and a small air compressor. Value $80.

Theft from person/Access device fraud – 200 blk. Sycamore St. – between 7/31 and 8/1 – Victim states she discovered fraudulent use of her bank card, although she had possession of it. Attempts had been made in 3 different states. Loss $250.

Access device fraud/theft from person/identity theft – 400 blk. Norton St. – 8/6 between 8:58 PM and 9:11 PM – Victim reports suspect had gotten into his Wal-Mart account and ordered a Playstation 4 charging his bank $373.43. He will notify his bank.

Burglary – 30 blk. Boggs Ave. – between 7/26 and 8/1 – Victim reports his residence was broken into through a basement window and items were taken. Stolen is approximately $100 in loose change, $2000 worth of collector’s quarters, gold cuff links, gold necklace, and a blue towel. Total value $2605.

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Burglary – 2500 blk. Letticoe St. – between 7/4 and 8/2 – Victim states a red Honda generator was stolen from the basement. He said the basement door had a loose panel and was not secured. It is believed suspect(s) gained entry at this point. Value $1,000.

Defiant trespass/resisting arrest – 2300 blk. Mission St. – 8/6 between 12:25 PM and 12:50 PM – Victim allowed a former (evicted) tenant to come in and retrieve her wallet. Once getting inside the apartment, the suspect refused to leave. Officers provided her the option to freely leave to which she refused. After a brief struggle with officers, the suspect was placed into custody.

South Side Flats (1609, 1702)

Theft from vehicle/criminal mischief – 2600 blk. Larkins Way – between 8/1 at 10:30 PM and 8/2 at 7:40 AM – Victim reports finding the suspect ha d broken the right front window and took a bag of approximately $20 in quarters.

Theft from vehicle – 2300 E. Carson St. – 8/5 between 9:30 PM and10:00 PM – Victim reports someone gained entry into his locked vehicle and took $4800 from under the left front floor mat. No forced entry was observed.

Theft from person – 2100 blk. Sarah St. – between 8/5 and 8/7 – Victim reports 3 empty barrels of beer and 2 taps were stolen. They had been located next to an exterior gazebo and were now gone. Value $200.

Robbery – S. 25th and Jane Sts. – 8/7 between 5:15 PM and 5:20 PM – Victim states he was robbed by a suspect who he had just sold a shirt to. The suspect demanded his wallet and shirts he had been selling. The suspect then struck the victim multiple times and removed the victim’s wallet from his rear pocket. Witnesses ID’d the suspect and officers went to the suspect’s address where he was positively ID’d by the victim. The suspect admitted to the robbery and provided where he had hidden the wallet. The shirts were also located inside the suspect’s residence. Arrested was 49 y.o. Charles Dwyer of the South Side.

Theft from person – 400 blk. S. 27th St. – between 8/4 at 3:00 PM and 8/5 at 3:00 PM – Victim reports she locked 3 bicycles to the bike rack and when she returned the next day, they were gone. Value $1,500.

Theft from vehicle (firearm) – 1800 blk. Wharton St. – 7/28 between 12:15 AM and 2:00 PM (reported 8/4) – Victim reports someone the suspect stole his loaded firearm from his unlocked vehicle. Ruger SR9C, 9mm.

Stolen auto – 50 blk. S. 18th St. – 8/7 between 12:20 AM and 2:20 AM – Victim reports suspect took her 2008 silver Toyota, PA plate JTP3529. Inside the car was 2 bank cards and house keys.

Theft from vehicle (firearm) – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – between 8/6 at 11:00 PM and 8/7 at 3:30 AM - Victim reports his firearm was stolen from his locked truck. He found the suspect gained entry through the rear sliding cab window, which also had signs of forced entry. Stolen was a Glock 21, serial #XLW798. Value $650.

Criminal trespass – 1300 blk. Bingham St. – 8/6 at 2:00 AM – After receiving an alarm, officers checked the building to find the suspect sleeping on the second floor. He stated he had thought it was a church. A keyholder arrived on scene and said that although the suspect did not have permission to be inside, the business owner would have to make the decision to pursue charges. It was revealed to the officers that a door may have been left unsecured by the cleaning company. Nothing was observed as being stolen.

Allentown (1803)

Stolen auto – 600 blk. Industry St. – 7/31 between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM (reported 8/2) – Victim states he met the suspect to allow him test drive his car he was selling. After accompanying the suspect on the test drive, the victim got out of the passenger seat and the suspect drove away with the car. 2001 gray Cadillac Deville PA plate ZGB8670.

Aggravated assault – 700 Proctor Way – 8/6 between 12:15 AM and 12:24 AM – Officers reported to the area for shots fired and one male was cut from a knife. Officers located two victims. It was later discovered they had assaulted each other; one by baseball bat and the other with a knife. Both were medically cleared and incarcerated.

Theft from vehicle/Criminal mischief - 1900 blk. Arlington Ave. – between 7/31 at 8:54 PM and 8/1 at 1:30 AM – Victim states the right front window was smashed and suspect took a Harry Potter bag which was in a storage area under the gear shift. In the bag was a wallet, ID, credit card, debit card, $80, and a wedding ring with 3 diamonds.

Burglary – 2800 blk. Arlington Ave. – between 8:50 PM and 8:58 PM – Victim states while he was gone for 8 minutes, suspect(s) broke into his apartment through the window screen and took his prescription medication and $80.

Stolen auto – 2100 blk. Sur Way – 8/7 between 3:00 PM and 5:15 PM – Victim states his car was taken while parked in front of his house. A sandblaster he uses for work was in the vehicle also. Recovered the next day – Officers spotted the vehicle in the area. After attempting to pull it over, the suspect fled on foot. He was apprehended a short distance later. The 16 y.o. juvenile was charged with Receiving stolen property, escape and for a warrant. He was taken to Shuman Center.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Stolen auto – 3000 Arlington Ave. – between 8/4 at 8:00 PM and 8/5 at 10:30 AM – Reporting person states his rental car was stolen. He said the key would not come out of the ignition and he left the doors unlocked due to this reason. Recovered 8/4 by County Sheriffs, which was towed to the pound. The keys were not in the ignition. There was no damage to the ignition system.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Theft from person/access device fraud – 20 blk. Cedricton St. – 8/1 – Victim reports suspect used her bank card at a Lowe’s store in a local suburb. She states her bank card was in her possession at all times and does not know how her account was accessed. Loss $987.72.

Burglary – 1400 blk. Nobles Lane – between 7/28 and 8/1 – Victim reports his firearm was stolen from his safe. Nothing else was taken from the safe and there was no damage to the safe. The firearm is a 45 caliber Smith & Wesson, steel finish and dark blue handle. $1600.

Burglary – 100 blk. Eiler Ave. – between 8/2 and 8/5 – Victim states her home was broken into while she was away. Entry appears to have been made through a front window. Stolen was a 55” Sanyo flat screen TV, 40” flat screen TV, and a blue ray player. Unk value.

Burglary – 1600 blk. Concordia St. – 8/5 between 1:00 PM and 11:30 PM – Victim reports she noticed her jewelry gone from her dresser. Entry appears to have been made from a basement window. She has had prior burglaries in the past with entry being made through an unlocked window and by cutting the window screen. Stolen is a gold pendant/necklace, gold football themed necklace, gold beaded rosary, and 3 gold necklaces. Value $700.

Theft from vehicle/criminal mischief – 2500 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 8/4 between 11:00 AM and 8:30 PM – Victim states suspect forced down their driver’s side window and gained entry into her car. Taken was a wallet and bank cards.

Theft from vehicle – 100 blk. Owendale St. – between 7/29 and 8/1 - Reporting person states suspect removed the registration plate from his work vehicle while it was parked over the weekend. PA plate ZDX9720.

Knoxville (3001)

Theft from person – 400 blk. Arabella St. – 7/10 (reported 8/5) – Victim reports a delivered package was taken after being delivered. Value $600.

Burglary (attempt) – 100 blk. Charles St. – 8/5 between 2:00 PM and 2:50 PM – Victim states while she was away from her residence, someone tried to gain access to the inside. Damage was found to the front door. Although it was still locked, it appeared someone did try to force entry.

Robbery – Brownsville Rd. at Reifert St. – 8/6 between 1:00 AM and 1:06 AM – Victim he was approached by 2 suspects and asked for money. He refused and kept walking. One suspect came up from behind him and hit him on the back of his head causing him to fall. The victim does know the suspects to see from the neighborhood.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Theft from person – 2400 blk. Saw Mill Run Blvd. – between 7/25 and 7/29 – Reporting person states 2 - 6 foot folding tables were taken from a locked space inside the old fire station. It is believed someone who has keys to this space took the items. Value $56.

St. Clair (1606)
