Amsler Pharmacy has installed a drug disposal Take Back Kiosk at its’ East Warrington Avenue location.

This kiosk will provide a safe and convenient way to dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescriptions, including controlled substances, at no cost to the patient.

More Pennsylvanians die every day from drug overdoses than from motor vehicle accidents. This number is expected to top 3400 in 2016.

The kiosk will be available during normal pharmacy hours -- Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In addition, the pharmacy also provides the lifesaving opioid antidote Narcan (naloxone). This medication is now available in Pennsylvania without a prescription by following the distribution guidelines established by the state.

Naloxone can be used in the event of an overdose to reverse the effects of heroin or other opioid drugs, and is administered by injection or nasal spray. Anyone concerned about the possibility of having to deal with an overdose situation may purchase this medication by asking to speak to one of the pharmacists. Narcan may be purchased with (copay generally required) or without using insurance.
