The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: May 16, 2016 thru
May 22, 2016.
Duquesne Heights (1911)
Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)
Theft by Deception (scam) – 500 blk. Meridan St. – 5/17 at 12:55 PM – The victims received a call from someone pretending they were their granddaughter. The suspect told them they needed $600 to be sent to Ontario Canada for an attorney because she was arrested. They victims wired the money to Ontario and when they called their granddaughter to see if she got the money, the real granddaughter told them she was in Pittsburgh, had not been arrested and never called them requesting money.
Theft from Vehicle – between 5/20 at 8:30 PM and 5/21 at 10:20 AM – Victim states someone took items from inside his vehicle. Missing is loose change, a phone charging cord, and a checkbook. It is believed the victim may not have locked his car due to no observable damage to the car.
Theft/Forgery/Identity Theft – 100 blk. Prospect St. – between 4/2 and 5/20 – Victim states someone had gotten one of her checks and used it at a business in the amount of $425. The suspect is believed to be her son’s ex-girlfriend.
Theft from Vehicle – 400 blk. Norton St. – between 5/20 at 10:00 PM and 5/21 at 9:30 AM – Victim states she left her purse inside her unlocked car. She discovered it was gone along with $10, her license, and credit cards.
Stolen Auto – Virginia Ave and Maple Ter. – between 5/18 at 1:00 PM and 5/22 at 9:00 AM – Victim states she parked her car in the Rite Aid lot when she was having a medical emergency. When she returned to get her car it was missing. PA plate FGH6789, light blue 2011 Honda Fit.
Theft from Person – 400 blk Griffin St. – between 5/17 11:15 PM and 5/18 – 9:25 AM – Victim states he believes his roommate/girlfriend/suspect stole his wallet from underneath his bed. The suspect told the officer the victim frequently gets highly intoxicated and loses things.
Theft from Vehicle – 600 blk. Chess St. – between 5/20 at 5:30 and 5/22 at 6:00 PM – Victim reports she had left her purse and a satchel on the floor board in the rear of her car. She discovered they were gone. No forced entry was observed, therefore it is believed the vehicle had been left unlocked.
Criminal Trespass – 600 blk. Mindora St. – between 5/21 at 3:30 PM and 5/22 at 12:20 AM - The victim states she had left her front window open slightly so her cats could come and go. She discovered her front door was open and the window was open wider. No items were found to be missing from inside the residence.
South Shore (1921)
Southside Flats (1609, 1702)
Theft from Person – 2300 Carey Way – between 4/10 and 4/20 – Victim stated they had ordered two City of Pittsburgh Parking passes and believes the neighbors in another apartment stole them after receiving them in a general mail area.
Theft from Person – 400 blk. Bingham St. – 5/19 at 11:00 PM – Victim was selling her cell phone. She met with an interested party. She met the suspect, who after inspecting the phone, drove away. Value $200.
Theft from Vehicle – E. Carson and S. 13th Sts. – between 5/18 at 11:00 PM and 5/19 at 1:55 AM – Victim states her front left window was broken out and $20 was taken from her car.
Aggravated Assault – 1200 blk. E. Carson St. – 5/20 at 2:05 AM – Officers responded to shots fired in the area. The suspect fled on foot with a detail officer in pursuit. The suspect was found hiding behind an air conditioning unit. A gun was later recovered nearby. The victim sustained a gunshot to the left leg above the knee. The suspect knew the victim and did not appear to be a random act.
Theft from Person – 70 blk. S. 12th St. – 5/20 at 1:00 PM – The victim was paying her parking fee at the kiosk when she dropped a $20 bill. The suspect picke dit up and refused to return it to the victim. He then fled on foot.
Theft from Business – 1900 blk. E. Carson St. – between 5/19 at 6:00 PM and 5/20 at 11:23 AM – After responding to East Ohio St., officers discovered a check had been stolen from outgoing mail from the Pittsburgh Steak Company in the amount of $988.71. The suspect was arrested by officers in Zone 1 for attempting to cash the check, receiving stolen property, Forgery, and theft. The suspect is Terrence Malik Williams, BM, 26 y.o., who is homeless.
Carjacking – S. 13th and Sarah Sts. – 5/21 at 1:12 AM – The victim flagged down an officer and stated he had just unlocked his friend’s car to retrieve cigarettes when he was struck in the head by a solid object. He said the suspect took his friend’s car. The victim sustained a laceration above his eye, a bloody nose and a cut on his left knee. The car is a 1997 Chrysler Concord PA plate KDC2196.
Theft from Person – 1100 blk. E. Carson St. – 5/21 between 2:15 AM and 3:17 AM – The victim states she had dropped her cell phone and was unable to locate it. She used a friends phone to track hers. Due to being unable to pinpoint exactly where the phone was, it was not found. Value $150.
Aggravated Assault (knife) – E. Carson and S. 14th St. – 5/21 between 2:10 AM and 2:30 AM – After a verbal confrontation, the victim was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen by the suspect. The injury was life threatening. The suspect was arrested at the scene, Adam William Grosse, from Reiland St., 15227, a WM, unknown age.
Stolen Auto – S. 19th and Sidney Sts. – between 5/21 at 10:00 and 5/22 at 1:00 AM – Victim states he discovered his car keys were missing from inside his pants pocket. He discovered his car was missing. Silver, 2006 Mazda RX8, IL plate E430072.

Stolen Auto – 2600 blk. S. 18th St. – between 5/19 at 6:50 AM and 5/21 at 1:30 PM – Victim discovered her car was missing. PA plate KBZ1230, black 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Theft – 600 blk. E. Warrington Ave. – 5/17 between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM – Victim states someone stole the lawnmower that was chained up in her side yard.
Theft – 1100 blk Arlington Ave. – 5/18 between 12:10 Am and 12:19 AM – Victim states she set her cell phone down on the counter and briefly walked away leaving it there unattended. She returned to see it was gone. Value $200.
Robbery (firearm) – 700 blk. Lillian St. – 5/18 at 1:30 PM – Victims state they were robbed by suspects who came out from the bushes as they were walking past an empty lot. When one victim attempted to call 911, one suspect put a gun to her head, threatened her and demanded their belongings. Taken was their cellphones, ID, cash and marijuana. One victim recognized one suspect from a Facebook page.
Criminal Trespass – 500 blk. Arlington Ave. – between 5/9 and 5/17 at 11:00 AM – Victim reports someone had gained entry to the apartment by opening a side window and unlocking the door. Nothing was observed missing.
Theft from Person – 600 blk. Ceres Way – between 5/18 at 11:00 PM and 5/19 at 1:30 PM - Victim states someone stole from his back yard a bright green “Jetson” moped.
Theft from Person – 70 blk. Beltzhoover Ave. – between 5/17 and 5/18 – The victim accused a male at this location of stealing and selling her son’s cell phone. After some investigation at the scene by the officer, it was determined the victim’s phone was not stolen or sold by the person she was accusing. Her son’s phone is missing though. Value $70.
Theft – 900 blk. Climax St. – between 5/21 at 10:00 PM and 5/22 at 4:00 AM - Victim #1 states he was house sitting for a friend and had some people over the house. They all had been drinking. The victim couldn’t find his hiking pack along with the resident/victim #2’s laptop, clothing, make up, and house key. The suspects all had left while Victim #1 was searching for the items in the house.
Theft – 70 blk. Beltzhoover – 5/16 between 2:00 AM and 1:00 PM – The victim invited a homeless male, who had only met the week prior, to stay overnight at his residence due to it being cold out. When he woke up, he discovered the suspect and his Samsung tablet were gone. Value $200.
Theft – 30 blk. Beltzhoover Ave – 5/19 between 6:45 AM and 8:10 PM – Victim states someone took porch furniture from her porch. The furniture is two wicker chairs. Value $400.
Stolen Auto – 80 blk. Beltzhoover Ave. – 5/20 at 7:21 AM – Victim states her son had gone out and started the car and came back inside the house. When she looked outside the car was gone. The keys were inside it. PA plate JSZ6954, white 2005 Toyota Corolla. On 5/21, officers were nearly struck by this vehicle. As the officers turned around, the car fled at a high rate of speed and stopped at an intersection where the suspects bailed out and fled in all directions. The car was recovered and driven home by the victim.

Criminal Attempt Theft – 200 blk. Fernleaf St. – between 5/14 at 1:00 PM and 5/16 at 10:30 AM – Victim states someone gained entry into her car and rummaged through the console and glove compartment. Nothing is missing at this time.
Theft from Vehicle – 2100 blk. Brent St. – between 5/15 at 10:00 PM and 5/16 at 8:00 AM – Victim states he had left his car unlocked and when he came out to his car he discovered someone had taken approximately 50 CD’s and $20 in change. The suspect did leave a screwdriver in the car.

Theft from Vehicle – 400 blk. Parallel St. – between 5/15 at 11:00 PM and 5/16 at 4:05 AM – Victim states he was doing renovation at a residence. He left his tools at the house and when he returned approximately 4 weeks later, he discovered his tools were missing. He believes one of the other workers working on the house had taken the tools. Value $988.
Theft from Person – 100 blk. E. Meyers St. – between 4/3 and 5/5 – The victim states he had left his tools at this location which is being renovated. There are multiple workers in and out of the location. He believes one of the workers took a Fien Multi Tool, and a Bosch Hammerdrill/Rotary Drill. Value $988.

Theft from Vehicle – 700 blk. Esther St. – between 5/14 at 4:00 PM and 5/16 at 6:00 AM – Victim states he may have left his car unlocked. He discovered his work cell phone had been taken. This is his second theft in a year. Unk Value.
Stolen License Plate – 2000 Saw Mill Run – between 5/15 and 5/18 – Victim states one of the business’s Repo/Towing plates was missing. It was being used on a vehicle when it went missing. PA plate RT67118
St. Clair (1606)
Robbery (firearm) – 500 blk. Mountain Ave. – 5/19 at 9:50 PM – Victim states he was at a residence when four or five suspects came into the yard, one brandishing a pistol. They took $20 from him along with a hat. The suspect did fire the gun, no one was injured. No direction of flight. All suspects were described as being BM’s between the ages 15-20 years old.
Stolen Auto (Recovered) – 200 blk. Rochelle St. – 5/16 at 2:52 PM – Victim states he was delivering a pizza at a residence. He left his car running and unlocked. As he was walking to the door, he observed the suspect get into the car and drive off. The victim ran after the car and as he stepped off the curb, he injured his leg. The suspect crashed the car into a utility pole and fled the scene on foot.
Theft from Person – 400 blk. Bausman St. – 5/20 between 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM – Victim had been playing basketball in the park with some friends. There were other kids in the area while he played. He discovered his cell phone was missing. Value $600.
Theft from Person – 400 blk. Parklow St. – 5/22 between 12:10 PM and 12:15 – Victim came home to find her nephew sleeping in the living room. She inquired the whereabouts of her son’s Play Station. He said it was in the basement, she went to the basement and when she returned, she saw her nephew/suspect leaving out the back door holding the Play Station. She does not wish to pursue charges.
Burglary – 80 blk. Beltzhoover Ave. – between 5/20 at 4:00 PM and 5/21 at 10:30 PM – Victim/property owner discovered the rear door had been kicked in and discovered items missing along with tools that workers had there. Items will be itemized.
Burglary – 600 blk. Delmont St. – 5/20 between 2:00 PM and 11:45 PM – Victim had run some errands and had lent his cell phone to the suspect whom he been allowing to stay at his residence. When the victim was finished in the bank, he could not locate the suspect with his phone. When the victim arrived home, he discovered someone had stolen his iMac desktop computer, a black and silver Mongoose bicycle, along with his missing iPhone. Total value is unknown. The suspect was not anywhere to be found, but it is believed he had removed the bar from the basement door to allow entry into the residence, since the victim had the only key.
