Pre-Memorial Day services planned


The South Side and Hilltop Memorial Day Parade Committee has scheduled several services prior to and in preparation for Memorial Day.

Volunteers will be placing wreaths at the following cemeteries: Serbian, St. Michael’s, St. Joseph’s, St. George’s, St. Peter’s and South Side Cemetery. In addition, wreaths will be placed at the Honor Rolls on Warrington Avenue, the former V.F.W. on Hays Avenue and Polish Veterans club.

Church services will be held on:

May 22 at St. Sylvester’s Roman Catholic Church with Formation at 8:30 a.m. for the 9 a.m. Mass;

May 29 at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church with Formation at 10 a.m. for the 10:30 Mass;

June 5 at Concord Presbyterian Church with Formation at 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. Service; and

Nov. 13 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church with Formation at 10:30 a.m. for the 11 a.m. Mass.

Memorial Day services will be held on May 30 beginning at 8 a.m. at South Side Riverfront Park. Memorial services will follow throughout South Side and the Hilltop ending at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the South Side Cemetery Bandstand.
