Phillips K-5 students will display their artwork at New Artists Program
The New Artists Program is offered to students in grades three through five at Pittsburgh Phillips K-5. With instruction provided by AmeriCorps placement Sarah Long, the students explore a variety of artistic mediums throughout the school year. This year, program participants studied concepts such as perspective and composition as well as the use of different techniques and materials.
Amber Rooke, Brashear’s Education Coordinator, stated, “We are always amazed by the creativity and talent shown by the Phillips students who participate in this afterschool program. In addition, we are grateful for the support shown by the administration of Pittsburgh Phillips K-5 and the staff of the Carnegie Library’s South Side branch. Working together, we can enhance the school’s curriculum and expand opportunities available to students.”
The exhibit is free and open to the public. The library is located at 2205 East Carson Street.
