The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: March 21, 2016 thru March 27, 2016.

Note – highlighted robberies are similar in firearm and vehicle used/described.

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Theft from Vehicle – 400 blk. Sweetbriar St. – between 3/22 at 7:00 PM and 3/23 at 3:00 AM – Victim states he may have left his vehicle unlocked. He discovered a gym bag, and a black briefcase containing a radiation meter and AMP meter. Total value $4130.

Theft from Vehicle – 100 blk Basil Way – between 3/22 at 6:30 PM and 3/23 at 8:15 AM – Victim states his vehicle was entered into, however nothing was taken. The interior had been ransacked.

Theft from Vehicle – 400 blk. Plymouth St. – between 3/22 at 7:00 PM and 3/23 at 3:00 PM – Victim discovered his car been ransacked and nothing was found to have been taken. Victim may not have locked his car.

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Robbery (firearm) – Southern Ave. at Minsinger St. – 3/26 at 9:54 PM – Victim states two BM suspects pulled up in a red sedan. The two suspects got out of the car and approached him and told him to give them everything he had. One suspect was carrying and “assault rifle” and punched him in the face knocking off his glasses. The victim gave them his wallet along with his Samsung cellphone. The suspects got back into the car and drove away. A description was not able to given due to the victim’s glasses being knocked off. Unknown total value.

South Shore (1921)

South Side Flats (1702, 1609)

Theft from Person – 27th and E. Carson Sts. – 3/23 between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM – Victim states he locked his bicycle up at the bike rack in front of LA Fitness. He discovered it gone when he was finished work. Value $1000.

Theft from Vehicle – Bingham and S. 6th Sts. – between 3/20 at 9:00 PM and 3/21 at 8:30 AM – Victim states she parked her car at this location and discovered it had been broken into. The left rear window had been smashed with a brick and the glove box contents were emptied out. Missing was some paperwork.

Theft from Vehicle – Bingham and S. 6th Sts. – between 3/20 at 9:00 PM and 3/21 at 8:30 AM – (Car and victim #2) Victim states the left rear window of her car had been smashed out with a brick. Nothing was observed to be taken, however the contents of the glove box were strewn about.

Theft from Vehicle – 30 blk. S. 16th St. – 3/22 between 7:30 PM and 9:30 PM – Victim states he returned to his car to discover someone had entered into it by unknown means and took a GPS unit and $30. Total value $180.

Theft from Vehicle – S. 13th and Roland Sts. - between 3/20 at 11:00 PM and 3/21 at 3:00 AM – Victim reports his car window had been smashed and a phone charger and an E Cigarette was taken. Total value $300.

Theft from Person – 1700 E. Carson St. – 3/25 between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM – Victim states she set her cellphone down on a table in the bar while talking to a friend. She discovered it was gone. She attempted to locate it using an app with negative results. Value $300.

Theft from Person – 1500 blk. E. Carson St. – 3/24 at 11:30 PM – Victim states she set her phone down on a counter and it was taken. She attempted to recover it by calling the number with negative results. Value $700.

Robbery – 1700 blk. E. Carson St. – 3/25 at 3:00 AM – Victim states she had her cellphone in her hand when the suspect grabbed the phone out of her hand and fled. An attempt was made using an app to locate her phone with negative results. Value $850.

Theft from Person – 12th and Sarah Sts. – 3/26 at 8:00 PM – Victim states she was unable to find her purse inside her residence. She discovered it outside next to her car. She said she did not leave her purse inside her car. Missing was a debit card and credit card.

Bon Air (1806)

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Theft from Vehicle – 3100 blk. Mission St. – between 3/25 at 9:00 PM and 3/27 at 4:01 PM – Victim believes she left her vehicle unlocked and her Samsung cellphone was stolen. Value $400.

Theft from Vehicle – 2400 Cobden St. – 3/27 between 3:30 AM and 10:30 AM – Victim states someone entered her vehicle and took a laptop. This laptop was provided by her employer. No damage was observed to her car and it possibly may have been left unlocked. Unk value.

Theft from Vehicle (firearm) – 27th and Mary Sts. (Or possibly 3100 blk. Mission St.) – 3/26 between 6:30 PM and 3/27 – Victim states he met a female at a bar and dropped her off at 27th and Mary Sts. He believes she took his wallet and firearms that had been inside his center console. When the officer took the report, the victim stated his vehicle door was ajar and unlocked the morning after dropping off the female.

Theft from residence – 2800 blk. Mary St. – 3/22 at 12:35 AM – Victim states a known suspect took her 50: LG television from her residence. Her sister was on scene and observed the suspect taking the TV. Value $550.

Theft from Vehicle – 1000 blk. E. Warrington Ave. – 3/21 between 6:10 AM and 6:20 AM – Victim states he left his car unlocked and running to warm up. He discovered a CVA Mask was taken from his car. The theft was not discovered until he arrived at his place of employment.

Theft from Vehicle – 1900 blk. Arlington Ave. – between 3/20 at 10:30 PM and 3/21 at 1:08 PM – Victim reports his vehicle was broken into and discovered his bag of barber supplies were gone. Unknown value.

Theft from Person – 100 blk. Monastery St. – 3/21between 9:00 PM and 9:45 PM – Victim states his medications were stolen and has no idea how it occurred. He said the last place he saw the bag of medications was beside his car. Seven prescriptions were inside the bag.

Theft from Vehicle – 1900 blk. S. 18th St. – between 3/25 at 5:30 PM and 3/26 at 5:17 PM – Victim states two pair of sunglasses and $10 in change were missing from his car. No forced entry was observed and the doors were locked. Value $200.

Allentown (1803)

Burglary – 700 blk. Excelsior St. – 3/24 between 3:15 PM and 3:30 PM – Victim states her residence had been entered into by an unknown person while she was in the shower. Taken was a Playstation 4 controller. Unknown value.

Burglary – 400 blk. E. Warrington Ave. – between 3/19 at 12:00 PM and 3/21 at 9:00 AM – Victim states someone entered into this residence and took multiple tools that was being stored there. No forced entry was observed. Total value $6900.

Theft from Person – 700 blk. Carnival Way – 3/25 at 8:50 AM – Victim states he unlocked his bicycle and went back inside his residence to get something. When he came back outside, his bicycle was gone. Value $3000.

Robbery (firearm) – E. Warrington and Beltzhoover Aves. – 3/25 at 2:48 AM – Victim states she jumped into a car with four BM’s inside and asked the driver to drive her home. When they got to the listed intersection, the front seat passenger, pointed and “AK 47” at her and told her to get out of the car. One of the suspects grabbed her purse. She could only describe the vehicle as a red sedan. One suspect is described as being between 25-30 years old. $200 in cash was inside her purse.

Knoxville (3001)

Beltzhoover (1809)

Stolen Auto – 500 blk. Freeland St. – between 3/18 at 4:30 PM and 3/19 at 11:30 AM – Victim states she discovered her car had been stolen. PA plate HTL8752, Silver 2011 Ford Focus.

Aggravated Assault/Criminal Mischief – 300 blk. Estella St. – 3/25 at 8:30 PM – Victim states he was sitting on the hood of a parked car when two BM’s were approaching him. He heard shots being fired at him from the direction of the males. The victim fled and returned later to speak with police who had responded to the area for a shots fired call. A firearm was located under a nearby vehicle’s tire. No injury was sustained by the victim and damage was observed to the vehicle which he had been sitting on.

Theft from Vehicle/Receiving Stolen Property – 400 blk. E. Warrington – between 3/24 at 6:00 PM and 3/25 at 4:31 AM – Victim states he left his vehicle at an auto body repair business with the keys inside the car and unlocked. His car was discovered gone. A rollover crash occurred with this car after the victim left his car at the auto body shop. After a brief police investigation, it is believed his car was taken by a family member without his permission. The victim will continue with prosecution.

Criminal Homicide – Buffington and Frampton Aves. – 3/24 at 7:19 PM – Officers responded to a call for shots fired. A witness stated shots were fired a a victim was lying in the woods. The victim was located and was observed to have sustained multiple gunshots, he was deceased. The scene was processed. On 3/26, two suspects were arrested by detectives for their involvement in this incident.

Mount Oliver (1607)


Arlington (1603)

Theft from Auto – 100 blk. Fitler St. – 3/21 at 3:00 AM – Victim states he saw the suspect inside of his vehicle without his permission. He chased the suspect and lost sight of him. Nothing was found to be stolen, however the console had been ransacked.

Theft from Person – 2400 blk. Charcot St. – 3/24 between 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM – Victim states he set his two cellphones on the ledge of his porch. He noticed they were missing a short time later. He located the cellphones by calling the number and spoke with a female who said they had been thrown from a car in front of her house. One cellphone sustained damage from being thrown.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Theft from Residence – 3000 blk. Arlington Ave. – 3/25 between 1:30 PM and 11:40 PM – Victim states a friend was house sitting for her. When she returned to her apartment, she discovered her Playstation, controllers and games were missing. Value $530.

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Robbery (strong arm) – 200 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 3/23 between 3:40 AM and 3:45 AM – Victim states she came out of the convenience store and was grabbed and robbed by three suspects. The victim had been knocked to the ground and her purse was forcibly taken from her. All three are described as black males, between the ages of 20 and 30 years old, with the height between 5’8” and 6’0”, all wearing black hoodies. Taken was a purse containing numerous credit cards, $3, and an income tax card which had a balance of $2000 on it. A short distance away, the purse and a make up bag were found.

Burglary – 1800 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 3/20 between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM – Victim states someone entered his apartment and took items. No forced entry was observed. Stolen were a men’s diamond ring, leather jacket and vest, and a gold chain with a cross pendant. Total value $1875.

Burglary – 100 blk. E. Woodford Ave. – between 3/20 at 11:00 PM and 3/21 at 12:00 PM – Victim states he discovered a rear window had been broken out and an unlocked rear door. Items were stolen are a Visio television, and an Xbox gaming system. Total value $520.

Theft from Vehicle – 100 blk. Laughlin Ave. – between 3/21 at 6:00 PM and 3/22 at 6:45 AM – Victim states $25 was stolen from his car. Victim has had his car broken into in the past.

Theft from Vehicle – 300 blk. Linnview Ave. – between 3/21 at 9:00 PM and 3/22 at 7:30 AM – Victim states she may have left her car unlocked overnight which resulted in a suspect entering it and taking $10 in change and a pair of prescription glasses had been broken.

Theft from Person – Brownsville Rd. at Overbrook Blvd. 3/7 at 12:00 AM – Juvenile victim states he left his phone unattended on a picnic table and it was taken by an unknown suspect. Value $242.

Mt. Washington (1903)

Theft from Person – 300 blk. Grace St. – 3/23 between 1:20 Am and 2:44 Am – Victim states his iPhone 6 was stolen while at a friend’s house. Value $400.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Burglary, Simple assault, Criminal conspiracy, Theft – 2000 blk Dartmore St. – 3/20 at 11:30 PM – Victim states she answered a knock at the door and saw a female suspect who she had recognized. She left the female on the porch and left the door open and went inside to get her phone. Three female suspects and one male suspect (all known to the victim) entered into her residence without being invited. One female suspect began to assault the victim to which the other suspects joined in. During this time, one of the suspects took her wallet containing $80, bank card and driver’s license along with her cellphone. When the suspects were leaving, the victim asked for them to return her phone to which they tossed it in the front yard. These suspects are known to the victim and were discovered to be bragging about the incident on Facebook.

Theft from Person/Unauthorized use of auto – between 3/26 at 1:00 AM and 3/26 at 3:00 AM – Victim states a friend of hers had been at her residence. The friend/suspect stated she was leaving. Upon the victim waking up, she discovered her purse, cellphone and car were gone. She called the suspect and the suspect admitted to having the car. Victim did not to pursue charges for a stolen car but did want to for the purse being stolen.
