Market House looking forward to an April full of activities


The South Side Market House Senior Center, 12th Street, has a month full of activities planned for April. Among the special activities are:

Tupperware Bingo on April 4 from 3-5 p.m.

The walking group will meet every Friday from 10:30-11:15 a.m. They have also planned walks on the North Shore River Trail on April 5 from 12:30-2 p.m. and at the Pittsburgh Botanical Gardens on April 22 from 12:30-2 p.m. Admission is $7 for the trip to the gardens.

On April 7 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. they will be having a Poetry Reading with featured readers, an open mic, and light refreshments and snacks. The Rhythmic Movement Exercise group from Morningside is coming to lead us in a very fun and unique exercise class from 10-11 a.m.

Open House and Dinner Demo will take place on April 15 from 4-6 p.m. A featured chef from South Side Japanese Restaurant Nakama will be preparing a stir-fry dish. The price is $5 per person. Everyone is asked to sign up in advance.

The Senior Games are just around the corner, beginning May 24 and extending to June 10.

To get ready for the bowling event in the Senior Games there will be a trip to Princess Lanes on April 20 from 12:30-3 p.m. If there is a good response, they may go regularly.

The 30th Annual Volunteer Gala will be at the Sheraton in Station Square April 25th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. An individual’s total volunteer hours from 2015 will determine the price for the event.
