St. Patrick's Parade Day a success for the City

 


Another successful St. Patrick’s Day Parade is in the books for the City of Pittsburgh.

The Downtown parade attracted more than 200,000 people, one of the largest Pittsburgh has seen. Festivities following the parade in Market Square were busy but calm. Police encountered a well-behaved crowd, which resulted in two physical arrests and two citations for public urination.

One 48-year-old male was arrested following a domestic, and another 50-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. EMS responded to 16 calls and transported 11 patients Downtown between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Cleanup efforts for the parade were completed as of 6 p.m.

St. Patrick’s Day participants in the South Side began celebrating early in the afternoon. Police made one arrest via summons for DUI and issued 34 citations. EMS responded to 41 calls and transported 30 patients.
