Flag pole damaged in hit and run accident

 


The flag pole erected by the Mount Oliver City/St. Clair Block Watch at the intersection of Mountain and Wagner streets has been damaged by a hit-and-run driver.

According to Suzanne Photos, block watch organizer, it appears someone hit the flag pole on the evening of Friday, Feb. 5 or the morning of Saturday, Feb. 6. Parts of the vehicle were scattered about the scene.

The flag pole had to be removed because of the damage.

The block watch erected the flag pole with the assistance of the Hilltop Alliance and the cooperation of the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Board of Education. It complemented the “Welcome to the Hilltop” sign in the same location.

The block watch had also has installed surveillance cameras in the area and is reviewing the images to see if the accident was recorded.

Anyone with any information about the accident is asked to contact Officer Christine Luffey at the Zone 3 Police Station.
