S.S. Community Council holding public meeting

South Side Community Council (SSCC) is holding an open Community Meeting to discuss a new public safety/code compliance initiative for the South Side Flats on Monday, March 14, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Brashear Center, 2005 Sarah Street.

The SSCC will discuss the formation of a resident-led group similar to Oakland’s OakWatch. Representatives from OakWatch, a highly successful three-year program, will speak with residents of South Side and share information on launching on a similar program.

The SSCC will be seeking residents to lead and participate in the formation of a similar program for the South Side. The community council will provide additional support to get this effort off the ground. Visit the South Side Community Council’s Facebook page for more information.

The Oakland Code Enforcement Project works to improve the quality of life in Oakland by bringing people and institutions together to identify code violations, advocate for their remediation and monitor the outcome. Learn more at: http://opdc.org.
