Two arrested after early morning burglary in S.S.

At 3:50 a.m. on February 2, Zone 3 Officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at Pizza Sola in the 1400 block of E Carson Street.

Officers arrived to find a window of the business broken. A perimeter was set after they observed two males suspects inside the business.

While on scene, John Goldinger, 22, attempted to exit a rear side door with a garbage bag. When confronted by police, he fled back into the building. Goldinger then attempted to exit through another door but retreated when he heard a responding K9 barking.

Officers ordered Goldinger and another suspect – a 15 year old juvenile – to surrender several times but they refused to exit the building. Police entered the structure and encountered the two males behind a door.

Both men refused multiple commands to exit the area and attempted to climb up a ramp to flee. The juvenile kicked at police and the K9 while refusing to exit the area. Officers were able to take him into custody.

Goldinger was also taken into custody with the assistance of a police K9.

Officers located the garbage bag Goldinger was initially seen holding. Inside they discovered two bags of frozen chicken and two Gatorade bottles believed to be taken from the freezer and refrigerator. Officers also recovered money believed to be missing from the register. Both registers were damaged during the incident.

Both Goldinger and the juvenile were both treated at Mercy Hospital for injuries. Goldinger was then transported to ACJ while the juvenile transported to the Shuman Center.

Charges include burglary, criminal conspiracy and resisting arrest or other law enforcement.
