No soup for you if you miss the South Side Soup Contest

General admission tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 5, VIP tickets on sale now


The popular South Side Soup Contest will celebrate its 12th year at the 2016 Soup Contest on Saturday, Feb. 20, from noon to 3 p.m., in South Side’s historic East Carson Street business district.

VIP Soup Contest tickets are now on sale on the event website, VIP admission is $100 per person plus a food pantry donation to the Brashear Food Bank. VIP tickets include valet parking, a pre-event champagne reception hosted by City Theatre that includes a meet-and-greet with Rick Sebak, special soup tastings, an event t-shirt and swag bag.

General admission Soup Contest tickets are scheduled to go on sale on the event website on Friday, Feb. 5, at noon. General admission is $25 per person plus a food pantry donation to the Brashear Food Pantry. In past years, the South Side Soup Contest has sold out in less than five minutes.

This year’s contest will feature more than two-dozen restaurants paired with business and retail locations throughout South Side. Participants will try to sample as many tasty soups as possible, voting for their favorites.

The winning restaurant will house the coveted Soup Bowl Trophy for the year. Proceeds from the soup contest benefit The Brashear Association’s food pantries and the South Side Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center, an official information center of VisitPittsburgh and a central community services and meeting place.

This year Hirambo will be the official mobile app partner.
