Zone 3 Community Crime Alerts


The following are the Part I crimes for the week of: January 18, 2016 to January 24, 2016*:

Duquesne Heights (1911)

Mt. Washington (1903, 1914, 1915, 1807)

Theft of Firearm – 30 blk. Natchez St. – between 1/17 at 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM – Victim reported he placed his firearm in the center console of his vehicle. When he later returned, the firearm was missing.

Stolen Vehicle – 100 blk Southern Ave. – between 1/16 at 10:00 PM and 1/17 at 12:45 AM – Victim states her rental car and keys were stolen.

Theft from Person – 90 blk Craighead St. – on 1/19 at 7:19 PM – a known suspect took several bottles of alcohol and prescription pills from the residence.

Aggravated Assault- Edgemont St. and Aztec Way – 1/19 at 11:48 AM – Victim was shot in the hip and leg area. After providing a description of the actor, he was taken into custody after a brief foot chase in down town. Arrested was Darren White and a firearm was recovered.

Homicide –100 blk. Southern Ave. - 1/19 at 10:46 - Victim was shot in the lower extremities and was pronounced deceased a short time after being transported to the hospital.

Theft From Auto – 900 blk Grandview Ave. – 1/24 between 5:00 PM and 8:30 PM – Victim states her purse was taken from a vehicle, after it was possibly left unlocked.

Robbery of Person (strong arm) – 200 blk Boggs Ave. – 1/23 at 00:05 AM – Victim states as she was about to enter a business, she felt a tug at her shoulder. As she turned around she fell to the ground in the snow. The suspect forcibly took her purse from her and fled. $90, keys and a check card were inside it.

South Shore (1921)

South Side Flats (1702, 1609)

Theft from Person – 400 Cinema Dr. – between 1/18 at 6:00 PM and 11:00 PM - Victim reports her bicycle was chained to a pole in the rear of where she is employed. After work, she discovered the cut lock on the ground and the bicycle gone.

Theft from Person – 1500 E. Carson St. – 1/15 at 12:30 AM – Victim lost his Iphone. He was soon contacted by someone who wanted money in exchange for his phone. No further contact has been made.

Theft from Person – 1600 blk. Bingham St. – 1/16 at 6:00 PM – Victim set his wallet on the bar and played a game of darts. An unknown suspect came into the bar for a drink and after being denied, the suspect grabbed the wallet and fled. Multiple credit cards, a permit to carry a concealed weapon card and cash was in the wallet.

Robbery of Person – 100 blk. S. 16th St. – 1/18 at 8:30 PM – Victim was walking home from getting food. He was approached by two suspects who grabbed his arm and told him to give them “everything”. The victim saw a handgun in the pocket of one of the suspects and handed them a wallet without cash. They took the wallet which contained credit cards and ID.

Theft from Auto – 100 blk S. 18th St. – between 1/19 at 11:00 AM and 1/20 at 7:30 AM – Victim states his license plate was removed from his car.

Theft from Person – 40 blk. S. 19th St. - on 1/20 between 2:50 PM and 9:00 PM – Victim states that two packages that had been delivered to her residence had been stolen. In addition to personal items, a credit card was also inside one of the packages.

Burglary of Residence/Theft from Auto- 1800 blk. Larkins Way – between 1/19 at 10:oo PM and 1/21 at 7:00 PM – Victim states his .357 magnum revolver had been taken from his home. It had been sitting on a dining room table. Also a receipt for this same firearm was taken from his vehicle. No signs of forced entry.

Stolen Vehicle – 2200 blk Jane St. – between 1/23 at 10:30 AM and 1/24 at 11:00 AM – Victim reported his vehicle as stolen. PA plate HLL-4639, a blue Honda.

Theft from Auto – S. 18th at Larkins Way – between 1/22 at 5:00 PM and 1/24 at 10:30 AM – Victim states that someone took change from inside his vehicle.

South Side Slopes (1706, 1608)

Theft from Person – 2300 blk. S. 18th St. – 1/18 at 5:15 PM – Victim states he received notification from an Auto Squad Detective that his registration plate was seized due to it belonging on another vehicle. Victim was unaware that his had been stolen and replaced with a different plate.

Theft from Person – 2300 Mission St. – 1/21/16 between 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM – Victim discovered his Ipad was taken from his apartment.

Allentown (1803)

Theft from Auto – 800 blk. Excelsior – on 1/21 between 12:30 PM and 1:20 PM – Victim states his back pack had been on the floor of his vehicle. When he later returned to his car, his backpack which contained a laptop, a charging cord, and mouse cord.

Aggravated Assault – 700 Manton Way – 1/22 at 12:30 – Victim states he was jumped by three males. During the fight, he felt a sharpness to his thigh and realized he had been stabbed.

Knoxville (3001

Theft from Auto – 200 blk Suncrest St. –Victim states the registration plate to his car was removed and replaced with a different plate. The plate that was present was not reported stolen and was registered to a completely different model car. He reported his plate as being stolen, however does not know a time frame, but within the past several months.

Burglary of Residence – 500 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 1/22 at 3:08 PM – A witness observed the suspect enter into a residence. Responding officers found the suspect inside and was arrested.

Arlington (1603)

Theft from Auto – 2200 blk. Spring St. – 1/16 4:04 AM – A witness called to report a male inside of a vehicle that wasn’t his. Officers located the suspect with suspected items that were removed from the vehicle. The vehicle owner ID’d the items the suspect was in possession of and the witness ID’d the suspect. Suspect arrested was Richard Arrington, no current address.

Theft from Person – 100 blk. Cologne St. – between 1/1 and 1/14 at 10:00 PM – Victim states two gold nugget rings were missing from his home.

Arlington Heights (1604)

Carrick (2901, 2902, 2904)

Robbery of Business – 2100 Brownsville Rd. – 1/17at 9:00 PM – Suspect came into the business wearing his hood up and a cold weather mask on his face, holding a gun. The employee sought fled into a safe location. After a few minutes, the employee reemerged and discovered nothing had been taken.

Robbery of Business – 1200 Brownsville Rd. 1/18 at 9:32PM – Employee stated the suspect approached her at the cashier counter holding a handgun demanding her to open the register. The suspect was wearing a green puffy winter jacket, with a scarf around his face. The suspect fled with approximately $300.

Robbery of Business – 2600 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 1/20 at 4:05 PM – Suspect came into the business brandishing a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled on foot. Approximately $380 was taken.

Theft from Person – 1100 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 1/19 at 10:00 AM – Victim states after purchasing two money orders, she went about her shopping. She soon discovered the money orders and cash missing.

Burglary – 50 Clifton St. – on 1/19 between 6:20 PM and 8:40 PM – Victim states that upon returning to her residence she discovered a rear door window had been broken and items were stolen. Items include a laptop and jewelry was missing.

Stolen Vehicle – 1900 blk. Brownsville Rd. – 1/24 at 6:45 PM - Victim left his vehicle running with the keys in it. The suspect jumped in and took the car and a few blocks away was spotted by officers. Suspect was arrested for the vehicle theft.

Stolen Vehicle – 200 Spencer Ave. – between 1/21 at 10:00 PM and 1/22 at 6:00 AM – Victim states his vehicle was stolen from in front of his residence. PA plate 41639PD, 2014 Toyota.

Burglary of Residence – 40 blk. Clifton St. – between 1/21 at 8:00 PM and 1/23 at 10:45 AM – Victim states items were missing from her residence, with the basement door forced open. Missing were a Playstation with games and DVD movies.

Overbrook (3204, 3207)

Theft from Auto – 2300 Lucina Ave. – between 1/15 at 4:30 PM and 1/18 at 9:00 AM – Missing from victim’s car are sunglasses, phone charger, and a letter opener.

Bon Air (1806)

* Report includes Part 1 crimes from 1/16 and 1/17 due to them not being available for the last report submitted.
