Carrick High Sports Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for 2016


The Carrick High Alumni Sports Hall of Fame, one of the oldest high school Halls of Fame in Western Pennsylvania, is seeking nominees for its 21st annual installation.

 The installation ceremonies will take place at a luncheon in the Grand Ballroom of the South Hills Country Club on Sunday, May 22.

 During the past 20 years, the Hall of Fame has honored 37 head coaches of Carrick High championship teams; 138 Carrick High championship teams and more than 200 individual athletes who have starred as members of Carrick High teams since 1924. The individuals include both exceptional boys and girls.

 Nominations may be made by any person. Nominations for the 2016 Hall of Fame are being accepted until February 20. A form to make a nomination is available from the Carrick High Alumni Association by phoning Association Director Paul Harrison at 412-366-3331 or by requesting a nomination form by e-mail from the association at

 Nominees must have earned one or more of the following categories during his/her high school sports career: been named to an All City Team or equivalent; been named MVP of his/her CHS team; served as a captain or co-captain of his/her CHS team; has set or tied a CHS school sports record; been cited by his/her CHS head coach for outstanding sports abilities; or, has performed at an exceptional high level in college or professional sports.

 Nominees, who accept his/her nomination, will be asked to provide copies of newspaper clippings or other published items to allow the Hall of Fame judges to make informed decisions.

The nominee, if accepted, will be expected to attend the May 22 luncheon as a guest of the Alumni Association.
