South Side stabbing investigated

At approximately 3:12 a.m. on New Year’s morning, Zone 3 Officers were sent to the 2000 block of Sarah Street for a report that a person had been stabbed.

The officers found a 30-year-old male victim bleeding from a stab wound to the chest area. Paramedics transported him to UPMC Mercy where he was in moderate but stable condition.

Police believe the victim and another man were confronted by two unknown white male suspects as they left Walker’s Pub. The suspects started a physical altercation with the other two men.

During the fight, one of these suspects stabbed the victim. Both suspects fled in a brown or tan SUV.

The investigation continues.
