Police investigate shooting on Brownsville Rd. in Carrick

Zone 3 Officers were dispatched to the Uni Mart at 1921 Brownsville Road at approximately 11:18 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2015, for a report for shots fired.

Police report there was no victim and no suspect, but the evidence suggested two shooters shot at each other and fled the area.

A 24-year-old male from South Side later self-reported to UPMC Mercy with a gunshot injury in his leg. At this point in the investigation, it is believed the 24-year-old and an unknown white man began shooting at one another in the parking lot.

The other man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes. The man is believed to have fled the scene on foot in the direction of Westmont Street.

No other person was found shot or reported to a hospital. A nearby Honda CRV that was parked and unoccupied at the time had its rear window shot out. The shooting occurred while customers were coming in and out of the Uni-Mart at the scene.
