Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire earns highest rating

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire has joined a select group of fire departments by achieving the Class One Certification for public fire protection services through the ISO.

Class One is the highest rating for public protection fire services.

The certification puts the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire in realm elite fire departments. Of the more than 40,000 departments throughout the nation, only 132 others have the ISO Class One Certification. Pittsburgh is now the third Pennsylvania fire department to have the certification behind Mt. Lebanon and Dubois.

“This is a proud moment for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire,” says Fire Chief Darryl Jones, whose vision for the bureau has included attaining ISO Class One Certification. “This is proof that the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire is among the best of the best when it comes to delivering a high quality of fire protection services.”

The ISO’s Public Protection Classification Program plays an important role in the underwriting of insurance policies. Most U.S. insurers use the program to help determine premiums for residential, commercial, and industrial property insurance.
