Market House has a full December planned


The South Side Market House has changed its hours. The center is now open: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m .; Wednesday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m .; and, Thursday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

The Senior Center will begin accepting social members beginning January 1, 2016. A social member is someone that is 50-59 and is not a spouse of someone that is 60 and over. There will be an annual social membership fee of $15. This will allow people to use the TV, computers, printers, fax machine, pool tables, dart board, exercise room, exercise classes, exercise equipment, and the ability to take art classes and much more. 

Featured events for the December include:

Holiday Meal Cooking Demo with Local Chef, Zack Shell, December 7 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The following dinner menu will be available for $5 per person: London Broil, Scallop Potatoes and Green Beans.

Holiday caroling with a local Daisy’s Troop continued from 6-7 p.m. with hot chocolate and holiday cookies.

Simone’s famous Apple Pie Demo will take place on December 8 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

A Holiday Lights Tour and Dinner is planned for December beginning at 3:30 p.m. Dinner is a choice of Uno’s or TGIF at the Waterfront before driving through the city to see the holiday lights and decorations.

Join CitiParks December 11 at 2-6:30 p.m. for a Holiday Celebration at the Boilermakers on Banksville Road for horderves, entertainment and dancing for $5 per person.

The South Side Market House Senior Center will hold a Holiday Party at the South Hills Country Club on December 15 from noon-4 p.m. The menu includes a choice of stuffed chicken breast, boneless pork chop or grilled salmon. All meals are served with an iceberg tossed salad with house dressing, smashed Red skin potatoes, green beans almandine and non-alcoholic beverages.

Cost is $20 per person. RSVP with money no later than December 7.

Holiday at the Center will take place on December 23 from 11:40 a.m. -6 p.m. Lunch will be a Hot Dog Roast. There will be 10 games of Bingo, Reindeer Races, an Ugly Sweater Contest and Chance Auction.

A Holiday menu is on calendar for dinner. Free of charge.

Thank you Market House. Back in the 1980s I would frequent the MH. I would go there their to eat lunch in the summer and play basketball all year. Thank you for providing a place for me. Only child single parent house raised on the streets of SaSide. I think I turned out OK. Though, I'm sure, the ladies in the back who made lunches are all gone I will be forever grateful. -Matt Thewes, retired US Air Force
