Jeffrey Maier

At approximately 1:20 a.m. on November 19, Zone 2 Officers responded to the 7-Eleven convenience store in the 600 block of Penn Avenue for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival officers spoke with the employee who stated a white man, later identified as Jeffrey Maier, 27, of Mount Washington, entered the store and walked around for a few minutes. He then placed a note on the counter demanding money from the register and threatened to use a gun. Although he did not display a weapon.

After a verbal dispute with the employee, Mr. Maier left the store. He was apprehended a short time later at 6th Avenue and Coffey Way. The suspect informed officers that he sustained a heady injury from a fall on the sidewalk that occurred before they encountered him. He was taken to UPMC Mercy for medical clearance.

While at the hospital, Mr. Maier became agitated and began yelling profanities at the officers. He was told to lower the volume of his voice due to a small child being two rooms away, but continued to yell.

After receiving medical clearance, Mr. Maier was transported to Allegheny County Jail. His charges include disorderly conduct and robbery.
