Hilltop neighborhoods will participate in Pitt Make a Difference Day Oct. 24

 


Communities throughout the Hilltop are working with Pitt Make a Difference Day on October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to improve their neighborhoods.

Volunteers will meet at locations in the neighborhoods at 10 a.m., and are encouraged to bring trash bags, comfortable shoes, and help their communities and help “Make a Difference in the Hilltop.”

Hilltop neighborhood participating include:

Carrick. Volunteers will meet at the Carrick Shopping Center and will be disburse from there to: Madeline Street at Brownsville; Nobles Lane at Brownsville; Parkfield at Brownsville; and, The business district of Brownsville Road.

St. Clair. Everyone will be meeting at the Ormsby Avenue Cafe, 402 Ormsby Avenue to clean up St. Joe’s; A street cleanup in St. Clair; and, Work on the Game Stop on the GTech corner lot at Mountain and Fisher streets.

Allentown. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of 831 East Warrington to cleanup and beautify Arlington and Warrington avenues in the business district.

Beltzhoover. Volunteers will be cleaning all of Beltzhoover with the Pitt Students. They’re going to break off into four groups to clean the neighborhood. The meeting point will be at the park at 900 Delmont Street. Pickup will be the same location as well as lunch at 1 p.m. 

Mt. Oliver Borough. Volunteers will meet at the Mt. Oliver Borough Community Garden, Transverse Park to clean garden beds, spread wood chips and prepare for winter.

Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation volunteers will meet at 500 Norton Street.

Volunteers are welcome to join in any of the clean up efforts.
