Fall Redd Up will include 200 communities in Allegheny County

More than 200 Pittsburgh neighborhoods, Allegheny County communities and groups are expected to participate in the Fall Redd Up on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Pitt Make a Difference Day volunteers, doing their day of community service on the same day, will bolster the turnout. A total of 10,000 volunteers is projected.

“The Fall Redd Up usually attracts half the participation numbers of the Spring/Earth Day Redd Up,” said Boris Weinstein of Citizens Against Litter, one of the organizers.

In spite of the lower participation, he projects that volunteers will collect more than 200 tons of litter.

People interested in volunteering and finding a neighborhood to hook up with should contact Boris Weinstein at 412-688-9120 or e-mail

Participating in South Pittsburgh are: Allegheny CleanWays, Allegheny County Day Reporting Center, Allentown, Arlington, Beltzhoover, Carrick, Duquesne Heights, Duquesne University’s Spiritan Ministry, Friends of the Riverfront, Mount Washington, South Side Flats and St. Clair.
