Spirits Moving workout, play at S.S. Presbyterian
New participants are welcome at “Spirits Moving” workout and play in the gym of South Side Presbyterian Church on Thursday evenings 7:30-8:30 p.m., starting October 1, sharing breath and movement disciplines, body prayers, and play for the integration of mind, body, and spirit.
“These can yield greater joy, health, creativity, and power for the work of love, peacemaking, justice, and faith in our injured world,” Kathy Hamilton-Vargo reported. She developed most of these practices over years of research and practice, including the ancient Chinese practice Qigong; some she learned from other pioneers.
Participants should wear clothes they can move freely in and bring soft soled (like tai chi or ballet) tennis shoes.
There are a few yoga mats that may be borrowed, or participants may bring their own or a towel for some exercises on the floor. No previous experience necessary; people of all levels of health welcome.
