The latest independent film release from Chiller Films opens at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont on August 18. The three-night exclusive engagement is the only screening in the state of Pennsylvania and is co-presented by Horror Realm, Pittsburgh’s modern horror convention.
“The Boy” comes from the SpectreVision producing team of Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller and Elijah Wood. It features Rainn Wilson (The Office), David Morse (St. Elsewhere) and Jared Breeze in the title role. The film was written by Clay McLeod Chapman and directed by Craig William Macneill.
The film debuted at the 2015 SXSW Festival and was a nominee for the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Features. “The Boy” is an intimate portrait of a nine-year-old sociopath as he first discovers his taste for killing. Set in an ailing motel on a desolate stretch of Southern highway, “The Boy” celebrates the dark imagination of children left to their own devices and the urge to… experiment.
“The Boy” is the first film in a trilogy aimed at tracking the childhood of a future serial killer, with installments depicting the character at ages 9, 14 and 18, respectively, and ending with his full transformation to an iconic mass murderer.
