Old Clairton Road to close July 23

Old Clairton Road in Pleasant Hills Borough will be closed to northbound traffic between Glenburn Drive and Picture Drive beginning at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 23 for a roadway replacement project.

A single lane of southbound traffic will be maintained at all times. Northbound traffic will be detoured on Old Clairton Road past Thomas Jefferson High School to Route 51 in the community of Large, and should then turn left and follow Route 51 north.

Local residents should now consider Old Clairton Road a one-way street and follow the appropriate signage when turning onto Old Clairton Road from a side street. A temporary signal will be installed at the intersection of Old Clairton Road and East/West Bruceton Road to allow for through traffic.

Flaggers and police officers will be present during the implementation of the detour and will assist in directing traffic. Two-way traffic will be maintained between Route 51 and Glenburn Drive and Gill Hall Road and Picture Drive, however repaving work will be occurring and temporary restrictions will be in place.

Work between Route 51 (near the Bill Green Shopping Center entrance) and Glenburn Drive will be performed during the evening hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. All other work will be performed from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Access to all businesses and residences will be maintained.

Updates will be provided when there are changes to the traffic patterns. Motorists should take their time, look for the appropriate detour signs and be aware of other motorists and construction activities. The work is being performed by Lane Construction of Bridgeville, PA and is scheduled to last until mid-November
