Emmaus is again named one of best nonprofits to work for in the country

The Nonprofit Times, a leading national publication serving the non-profit sector, recently selected the South Side-based Emmaus Community of Pittsburgh as one of the 2015 Best NonProfits to Work For in the country.

The Emmaus Community was ranked as #32 out of the 50 non-profits that were recognized and was selected as #13 in the Medium-sized Non-profit category.

The Nonprofit Times conducted an anonymous survey across the span of the organization to gauge employee satisfaction in the areas of commitment to mission, leadership and management styles, wages, benefit packages, flexibility, creative employee perks, and team dynamics. This is the second year that Emmaus has been recognized as a top employer by the publication.

“It’s wonderful to get this kind of recognition for being a great workplace,” says Executive Director Karen Jacobsen. “We really strive to create a welcoming environment, both for individuals with intellectual disabilities who participate in our programs and for our staff and volunteers. Emmaus couldn’t fulfill our mission without such a dedicated team. They deserve a great workplace!”

Emmaus is a non-profit organization that provides permanent homes, non-residential services, and advocacy to people with intellectual disabilities and autism.  They offer programs in South Side, Brookline, Bethel Park, Dormont, Mt. Lebanon and Scott Township.
