Register now for enfrollment in Goodwill Employment Training Center
Goodwill is now enrolling students in the Goodwill Employment Training Center (GETC), the agency’s state-approved private licensed school located in Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center in the Lawrenceville area of Pittsburgh.
The next program start date is February 16, with orientation to be held on February 11 and 12. The GETC offers a seven-month diploma program in administrative office skills.
“Goodwill believes that quality education based on current industry practices and positive support are important aspects of the learning experience” said Judy Martier, director of education, training and assessment. “In the GETC, each student is provided with a learning environment which is designed to provide intensive, hands-on opportunities to achieve the skill levels necessary to acquire employment in their chosen area of study. And going to Goodwill for an education to help you get a job is a great New Year’s resolution.”
As part of the GETC Diploma program, students receive instruction in Business English, filing, career development, keyboarding, customer service, and Microsoft Office Suite 2010. All students will complete a 160 hour hands-on externship and have the opportunity to receive nationally recognized computer certificates.
Students also benefit from small class sizes, job placement assistance after graduation, and even a 20 percent discount at local Goodwill stores. Transportation to the GETC is via the PAT 91 or 93 bus lines, and free parking is available at Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center.
Past GETC graduates have gone onto jobs such as customer service representative, insurance claim clerk, or executive administrative assistant.
