Zion Church food bank could use more support during the holidays

In 1995, the food bank at Zion Christian Church began providing supplemental food for 50 families.

The food bank particularly serves seniors and low-income families who are not being served by any other food bank programs.

Residents can support the food bank in several ways: by sending or dropping off Shop-n-Save gift certificates for $10; by write a check made out directly to Shop N Save, the nearest grocery store to the food bank; and, donations of food are also accepted on the Second Sunday of each month during church services.

Those donating food are urged to check expiration dates, the food bank is not able to distribute expired food.

Send donations to: ℅ Linda Warble, Food Bank Community Coordinator, 127 The Boulevard, Pgh 15210.

“We have so much, many have too little. It doesn’t take a lot to share, give up a couple of Starbucks coffees and donate it! It’s all about...simple acts of kindness and paying it forward. I encourage everyone to simplify a little and give just a little, it all adds up,” Linda Warble, food bank community coordinator said.

To help, contact Ms. Warble by email warbleb@pitt.edu.
