The Board of Directors and staff of The Brashear Association are extending an invitation to neighbors and friends of the agency to celebrate the season at Brashear’s Holiday Open House.

The annual event will take place Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Brashear Center, 2005 Sarah Street.

The Open House is an opportunity for neighbors to drop off donations of non-perishable food items or new, unwrapped toys for Brashear Holiday Collection Drive. Brashear provides holiday assistance to low income families from the neighborhoods of Allentown, Arlington, Arlington Heights, Beltzhoover, Bon Air, Carrick, Knoxville, Mount Oliver, South Side Flats and South Side Slopes.

“We continue to see increases in the need for our services; we saw an increase of 20 percent at Thanskgiving! In the spirit of the holidays, we hope that people will remember to help their neighbors,” Hugh Brannan, executive director of the South Pittsburgh agency, stated.

“We really want to make sure that we can provide toys for children in our service area so we welcome donations of toys and gifts for children, 12 and under.”

Brashear has provided holiday assistance for more than two decades. For more information about the Open House or the Holiday Assistance Program, contact Brashear Association at 412-431-2236 or visit the agency’s website at
