Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak reads to first grade students at Pittsburgh Concord K-5 during National Young Readers Week. Students, teachers and Ms. Rudiak also discussed what each was thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Council Member Natalia Rudiak served as a guest reader for first graders at Pittsburgh Concord K-5 on Thursday, Nov. 13, to celebrate National Young Readers Week.

Co-founded in 1989 by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress, schools recruit local officials, sports figures, public safety officers, parents and other guests from the community to read a favorite children's book aloud to classrooms.

The councilwoman read two books to first graders at Concord. After reading, students, teachers and Ms. Rudiak took turns discussing Thanksgiving and shared what each was thankful for this year. Students were thankful for our armed forces, their parents and teachers.

Council Member Rudiak was honored to be invited to Concord Elementary and thoroughly enjoyed celebrating reading with her young neighbors.
