South Hills Chorale to offer holiday concert
The South Hills Chorale will perform its annual holiday concert program Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20 at Westminster Church on Washington Road in Upper St. Clair. Performances start at 7:30 p.m.
A variety of choral works will delight audiences, with selections both traditional and contemporary. The chorale will present And the Glory of the Lord and O thou that tellest good tiding to Zion, both from Handel’s masterpiece The Messiah, the soulful I’ll Be Home for Christmas and White Christmas, the holiday standards We Wish You a Merry Christmas and the Carol of the Bells, a playful and festive take on tunes from Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, as well as several other pieces that will make audience members’ hearts sing.
The chorale, under the direction of Phillip R. Aley and assistant director Erich Lascek, is comprised of more than 75 members from communities all over the Pittsburgh area. As an all-volunteer, non-profit organization of auditioned singers who delight in bringing music to others, the chorale’s members represent a wide variety of backgrounds and walks of life.
The South Hills Chorale has been entertaining audiences throughout Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania for 54 years. In addition to their regular concerts in the spring and during the holiday season, they also perform private concerts for conventions, and for community and social groups.
In keeping with its community mission, many performances are given at facilities serving the elderly and medically challenged.
Tickets for the holiday concert are $15 and are available by advance sale or at the door. Group rate sales are also available for parties of 10 or greater at $12 per ticket.
