Time to put area Halloween happenings on your schedule

 

Halloween celebrations and activities are beginning to take shape throughout the South Pittsburgh area.

Kids Club: Halloween Fun will take place at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh -- Carrick on Thursday, Oct. 23: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Kids in grades K-5 are invited to check out a special Kids Club featuring Halloween treats and activities. No registration required. The library is at 1811 Brownsville Road, Carrick.

This year, the Borough of Mount Oliver will celebrate Halloween on Saturday, Oct. 25 and is changing their Trick or Treat hours, pushing the time back to 4-6 p.m.

The Carrick Community Council will hold a Halloween Costume Contest on Saturday, Oct. 25 at noon at the Pittsburgh Carrick High School Cafeteria, 125 Parkfield Street.

Children 12 years of age or younger are eligible to participate. Pre-registration is required by calling 412-339-0808 and providing the child's name, age and telephone number.

Join in for a Carrick tradition, the annual Haunted House at the Carrick library. Explore three mini-rooms of family-friendly terror, recommended for ages 6 and up. The spooky walk-through only takes a few minutes, but visitors are welcome to try it twice. The event will run Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 29-30 from 5-7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 1 from 2-4 p.m. Haunted Library is created and presented by Teen Think, CLP- Carrick's Teen Advisory Group.

Trick or Treat in the City of Pittsburgh is on Halloween evening, October 31, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Zone 3 Police Station at 830 E. Warrington Avenue will be passing out Trick or Treat Goodie Bags during Trick or Treat hours.
