Police seek help to identify suspects who assaulted two women on 21st Street in S. S.


Zone 3 police are asking for help in identifying three suspects who assaulted two women on South Side in the early morning hours of May 26. Additional surveillance photos available in this week's Photo Gallery in the upper left corner.

City police are looking for a trio of people who assaulted two women in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 26.

While patrolling at 2:38 a.m., Zone 6 Officers were stopped at the intersection of 21st and E. Carson streets by a woman who said she and her friend were assaulted on 21st Street.

The first victim had cuts to both of her knees and had a bloody lip while her friend had cuts to her right elbow and shoulder. Both victims refused medical treatment.

The women told police they were walking to a friend’s house on 21st Street when three individuals approached them. The group of two white men, one in a red hat and white shirt and the other wearing a white hat and red shirt, and a white woman were described as being in their early 20s.

The second victim reported one of the men threw a can “of something” at her friend’s head and then pushed her down and began to punch her in the head. At the same time, the other man and his companion were assaulting the second victim.

One of the male suspects pointed a silver gun in her face while the other man punched her in the face. She said she dropped her purse containing her iPhone onto the ground. The female suspect picked up the iPhone and threw it on the ground.

The women reported the three suspects then stopped assaulting both victims and began to walk outbound on East Carson Street.

The first victim is a 22 year old white woman from Upper St. Clair and second victim is a 22 year old black woman from Scott Township.

Police are asking anyone who can identify or know the whereabouts of the suspects in the surveillance photos to contact Zone 3 plainclothes detectives at 412-488-8326. Callers may remain anonymous.
