Jason Hoffman

The Pittsburgh Police Burglary Squad arrested Jason Hoffman, 33, and charged him with six burglaries in Mount Washington.

At the time of his arrest Mr. Hoffman was incarcerated at the Allegheny County Jail on a separate burglary charge from the Upper Saint Clair Police Department.

On February 27, Upper Saint Clair police arrested him for a burglary in their jurisdiction. Inside of Mr. Hoffman’s vehicle they found numerous items believed to be stolen. Two of the items belonged to burglary victims in the City of Pittsburgh identified as a Giant Eagle Advantage Card and a Duquesne University class ring.

Once the Upper Saint Clair Police Department confirmed the items to be stolen they notified the Burglary Squad. On March 1, burglary detectives interviewed Mr. Hoffman. During that interview he implicated himself in six burglaries in Mt. Washington.

The burglaries occurred during daylight and afternoon hours while residents were away. Mr. Hoffman made entry by forcing in side or rear doors and windows. Once inside he would steal jewelry, tools, cash and electronics.

The Burglaries occurred on Norton Street, Rutledge Street and Southern Ave. between October 2012 and December 2012.

Mr. Hoffman is currently at the Allegheny County Jail charged with six counts of burglary and six counts of theft by unlawful taking. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.
