Education Fair planned at Carrick council meeting

The Carrick Community Council will use their next quarterly meeting to present an educational fair for the public.

The fair will be held at the Pittsburgh Concord Elementary School, 2350 Brownsville Rd., on Wednesday, March 13, at 7 p.m. Prior to the event, there will be refreshments from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The open forum event will have representatives to respond to any questions or comments. Those attending include District #7 school board director; Principals from Pittsburgh Concord, Roosevelt, South Brook and Carrick; A+ Schools executive director; and representatives from CCAC North and South, Pittsburgh Promise, and Gifted and Talented/Advanced Placement.

There will also be a session from Pittsburgh Public Schools on “Skills Needed for Post-secondary Success” and “GPA/SAT/and Matching to Good Schools.”

Parents, as well as students, are welcome to attend this event to learn about local schools, college requirements and future planning, and also to interview school officials in a personal setting.

The Carrick Community Council hopes this new approach to education in the neighborhood will encourage more people to attend and find out what is happening with neighborhood schools.
